Is it the same as the church rehearsal or happen after it? Whos meant to be there and what happens? Also do you actually have dinner? Read it in a brides bible and now confused. Getting all the possibly blonde questions out of the way now. xxx

I'm not entirely sure myself, but I believe it does involve an actual dinner with your wedding party etc - but I thought it was an American thing to do? Only seen it done on Friends and the SATC film. x

A rehearsal dinner is typically an informal meal after a wedding rehearsal, which takes place the night before the actual wedding. It's a chance for the wedding party to get to know each other better, and most importantly, it's a chance for the bride and groom to thank all the people who have helped them out with the wedding planning.
It's usually practiced inthe US but there is no reason you can't have one
and now the next chapter

Because my dad is now based in Dubai we're likely to go for dinner the evening before the wedding - which also happens to be the day of the wedding rehearsal! Guess that's a rehearsal dinner :P
Now, finally, Mrs Riley
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world
I have the greatest husband!

I've been a bit bemused about this - thanks for the pointer, joey86! That makes sense...I do like the idea of it, though the thought that it's American puts me off a bit :-D
we're having one but only because i have so many poeple coming from out of town and it is just easier to go out for a meal the night before rather than me cooking to feed them all
