Hi
I just want to ask brides what happens at an appointment when you go to look at dresses. I'm really self conscious, do I need to strip down to my underwear and will the assistant be in the changing room with me?

The ladies I had were all really good. They would have me stand in the changing room with my back to them, and the curtain closed, then when I was ready they'd come through with the dress open in front of them and pop it over my head, so they saw very little of me in my underwear. You'll soon forget to be self-conscious though, they're really professional and you'll get used to other ladies seeing you in your underwear.

I was never just stood in my underwear infront of the assistant at any point. She hung the dress up in the changing room for me, told me to step into it in my own time (in private) and to just draw the curtain back when it was on and I needed "doing up". I was really worried about this too as I'm very self conscious but it was completely fine and I felt really comfortable. :-)

All the ones I went to were very professional never felt like they were starring or looking they just put dress on and done it up. Most of them did small talk too which helped me from feeling self conscious. After your first few dresses your feel more relaxed and your know what to expect. Just make sure you wear us erwwar your comfortable in so if you don't want them to see you in a thong make sure you wear larger pants haha x

Don't let it make you self conscious Toni I've had two kids and both sections and it felt weird when standing in the changing room as you have mirrors all around you but once your in a dress your feel beautiful, you can always wear tummy tucking knickers if you like too x

Thanks Mrsc2bee & Emma I'm going shopping tomorrow for new underwear need a new strapless mine are now too big!! The joys of loosing weight cost a fortune for a new wardrobe, I'm not complaining tho :).... I'm just going to keep telling myself I have scars for a reason without them I wouldn't have my 3 beautiful children as my H2B says every stretch mark and scar means I have a reminder that we created beautiful children to treasure forever!.... And I have to remember they see this all the time, like you said after the first few dresses I hopefully won't notice any more xxx

I went on Friday and you ladies were right, she set the dress out for me and stepped out then came back in when I was in the dress to fasten me in, it was an amazing and completely stress free experience, I even found my dress I'm back in October for my measurements and to go with my bridesmaids to see what dresses to get for them :) xx

I'm also self conscious, but I was given privacy to get into the dress to a point I was happy for the seamstress to come in. The only thing she needed to do was lace me up, and then start pinning/measuring etc. At no time was I seen by anyone else in my underwear. (I did wear the strapless bra that I was going to wear on my wedding day). You will need to take your shoes so the dress length is pinned for alteration according to your height on the day.

I'm wearing customised converse for my shoes on the day, as my self and H2B are the same height so don't want to look taller than him on our day and converse are my fave shoes/ trainers to wear I have about 10 pairs :) X

Leanne - I've just put it in the net what a lovely dress I bet it looks amazing on you!! I've only put mine on as I keep my page private so I know he won't see it and I've changed the album on my phone so has to put a pin in to see those photo's, otherwise he'd have to be nosy lol men 4 u xx

Don't blame u!! To be honest I always wanted a ball gown dress but I would have never chosen that dress!! My little sister picked it I said there too much glitter as it runs throughout the dress :) but I was so surprised when I put it on and I didn't want to take it off!, I'm not sure on my veil yet not sure if I want short or long, they put a short on me in the shop but I'm still unsure, I'm going to see when my dress comes in for a fitting I'm going to have my hair styled how I want it on the day and see how veils look then.
