H2b has mentioned a few times that we should get a lady from our work to make us our cake for our wedding but i dont like to put someone in that position and ive never seen her work. So wasnt keen on the idea. I know shes done a few peoples cakes at work and havent heard any complaints. Well anyway i had posted a coment on facebook on sunday night saying we have set a date again and so when h2b went into work he got loads of congratulations lol then the lady came up to him and said that if we wanted she could make our wedding cake for us. So h2b was asking a few questions so i think she may be making our cake but we was only having work collegues coming to the evening but she wasnt on the list so should we invite her or not?

That would be a sticky one. I am making 2 of my friends cakes.. one which i wasnt originally invited too and one which i was. But i have since been invited to both.

If you was to invite her i would only invite her to the evening reception. That way it would save you some money etc by not having her to the full day.

she might just want the business and to help build her portfolio so prob isnt even expecting an invite, on the other hand if u feel too bad to accept a cake and not invite her, just invite her to the reception if u have the space, it depends if u would be paying her for it etc as if its doing u a huge favour ie a reduced price or something then i would be compelled to invite her, maybe get ur oh to drop in that ur worried about getting someone to make a cake when she isnt invited and would feel bad so will go to someone else, and maybe she might add that she doesnt want to be invited and would still do the cake? or she would just accept that and u can get urs from elsewhere, hope that helps! x

I would invite her to the evening and make a point of thanking her personally for making the cake. Hopefully she will understand your budget constraints. x

If she is charging you I dont think you should be under any obligation. However I would probably invite her to the evening do if you are having other work collegues there too.

Depends how well you get on with her. I would go with just the evening do if H2b doesn't know her that well. I don't think she is making the cake just to come to your wedding x

Shes not making it as a gift. As far as i know her cakes are about £150. This is one example of what she can do
