    Hi ladies,

Just starting to look at flowers for my bouquet, and just wondered what you are all having?

I did want tulips but have been told not a good option by florists...

I also have roses or peonies in mind?

    Any ideas/ advice much appreciated

I had sunflowers, and bridesmaids had gerebras.

Tuliips are lovely- find a florist that does what you want not what they want.

We have chosen velvet roses as our flowergirlies wanted to keep their flowers as do I. I did look at tulips but both my hubby to be and my pops suffer from hayfever so real flowers would have been a no no (couldnt find any nice looking artificial tulips)

i'm having calla lillies in white with BM's having gerberas.
Tulips; carry on growing even after cut and don't work well in a bouquet. I love tulips but after that i decided against them.

I was going to have cream roses but now want gerberas... was going to have real ones even though I have hayfever and was going to dose up and deal, but decided I really want to keep them after... and fake gerbera look as good if not better than real ones.

Things to think about are - are the flowers in season, what effect do you want to achieve, how many bouquets do you need, how many buttonholes do you need and what is your budget!
    Hope this helps!

We're having dark purple velvet roses for the buttonholes and my bouquet will be mostly purple velvet roses with some fresh ivory ones and some diamantes scattered around...and my bm's will have mostly fresh ivory roses with some scattered purple roses....I think they are going to look lovely and its hardly costing a thing...the first florist I went to was charging more than double what we are paying now and wouldn't even do what we wanted!!!!

Flowers really don't interest me a great deal so having a hard time making myself look for ideas. :-(

I'm thinking of creams as the bridesmaids will be in olive. What would everyone think of a wee splash or orange?

Also having long tables in the reception so want quite simple flowers as they will need to be low for people to see over xx

think you should defo shop round, i am having hydrangeas, white for myself and green for my bridesmaids, two florist i went to tried to talk me out of this, and talk me into having roses, but as a wedding planner i know it was more about them trying to make more money, hydrangea bouquet is costing me £35 and a peach roses would have cost £90. so shop around, and remember filler flowers will save you a lot of money.

I was having calla lillies, but the more I think about it the more I really want carnations, (the dark red ones) as they're my favourite flowers
I've googled carnation bouquets and they look rather lovely, so another trip to the florist is in order I think. If I decide on this, my bms will have carnation wrist corsages
