Hi all, Im fresh from university and breaking into the wedding industry. I have done a couple of weddings now, and the bride and groom love what i have done, but i really wish i knew exactly what you would want from me as a videographer? Im discreet, get around everywhere, friendly and creative. During the couple having their photos taken i tend to grab the guests a few at a time to do a little staged creative filming which always goes down well with the unsuspecting bride and groom when they see it. But i would love to hear what you as brides, think? whats acceptable, what is not? If you wish you could have something in particular, what would it be? what do you look for, what makes you smile??
Big ask but your replys would be greatly appriciated.
Thank you,
Grace xx

Personally apart from the service i would just like to see my family and friends enjoying the day!
Having the guests talk personally on there is a brillant idea and looking back in years to come would be a wonderful reminder of not just the day but the guests who are maybe no longer with us since then!

to be honest im not having a videographer. but if i was i would say the same as hails. want to see my family and everyone else enjoying themselves. i would also prehaps like a bit where people dont know there are being filmed so it is natural.
quite a few of my friends so stupid pouts when they are infront of a camera and it would be nice to see them be themselves!

haha now that i have moderator permission.... i too would like something relaxed but still gets the key points... to be aware of little moments between bride/groom.... bridal party etc....
what worries me is a videographer/photographer not capturing the 'magic' or 'spark' and the little intimate and individual things between h2b and i xx

My cousin got married and had her day filmed. The thing she regrets is that the videographer didnt get any of her guests talking, and now that my mum and grandparents are not around anymore she would have liked to have them more on film, so i think your idea of getting the guests to say a few words is a brilliant idea.

I watched a wedding video recently, and I really like seeing all the suppliers arriving and setting things up. Cause it shows just how much is involved in setting up a wedding, and the bride doesnt get to see that cause she is hidden away somewhere getting ready!
and during the service, you wanna so H2B's face clear as a bell before you walk up and then again when he sees you for the first time. Two cameras would be needed for this, as you also need the shot of the bride walking up the isle from behind.

Thanks everyone, i love how u said about when people are no longer around,(the sentiment that is) i did my friends and her grandad followed me around all day (he was lovely) and i got so much footage of him and then of him chatting to the camera. During edit he passed away quite suddenly and the footage i had became more important to my friend than the film itself!! I have also inadvertantly stumbled into a conversation between bridesmaids talking about one of them having an affair, now that footage i think they would have given me their lives to delete!! (i was totally ovlivious to what they were even saying!!) xx

WOW Xxmrsb2bxX thats horrible!!! a little grace and tact had clearly gone amiss!! i know a bride who was shouted at when trying to just BOOK a videographer just because she couldnt afford what he asked so she asked if he could maybe bring down the price a little and he was really mean!! I would have just had a little chat if you were on ur own, there was no need for him to make u feel awful!! grrrr!! xx

I appreciate how costly it can be to film wedding videos and edit them but a further 1500 pound on someone's budget can quite frankly be a budget breaker. So different packages and prices would be great. Also the personal messages I would do while the photos are being talen maybe as one set of people have their photos taken get one of the people in the pic before hand that way you make sure you get everyone and they arent as drunk lol
We would love a videographer but the cheapest one round here is over a thousand pound and tbh I've seen his work and didn't like it :(

aww thats a shame!! keep hunting, there will eb people like me who are new and would do a job at a budget price to get experience!! its better to hunt facebook and things like that, ask ur friends, go to the local uni/collage, you would be supprised how good these kids are, and would love to do it for a slip of £50!! £1000 is very excessive but i appreciate what goes into a budget for filming, but also that we need to be accessable by all for the buget of your wedding!! quantity of money, doesnt always mean quality!! i wont be having a videographer at my wedding :) im so shy infront of cameras id feel so concious i wouldnt like it!! cant you get a friend to do it?! xx p.s thanks for the input xx

Rachel email/phone some of them and broker a different package to the ones they advertise on their websites. Thats what i did. And I got a few hundred knocked off the price!
I have got 1 videographer, 2 cameras from 2 hours before the ceremony right the way up to 4th dace. All for £555!! bargain and it stuff is FAB!
its worth haggling, they can only say no!

we have asked for ppl to talk on the tape too. i think that will go down well. We just want obviously the main key points filmed with nothing missed out and general footage of everyone having a fab time and drunken antics towards the end

i would love to have a videographer at my wedding but just cant afford one!! i have looked all in and around my area and foned a few to see if they would travel and they are all asking stupid money!! tbh my wedding is costing just over 1k and the videographer alone is that and more!! we were lucky to have a friend doin our pics for us but dont know anyone that will film it!! i would love for even just our first dance to be filmed if nothing but we wont be getting that chance as they wont just do half an hour for less then a few hundered!! xxx
CommentAuthor*~*Gracie Lou*~*
skitty666, honestly, head down ur local uni/collage, they can do it as project work, they have facilities to film and edit and aslong as you feed them they will be happy little campers!!! :) even if it turned out pants, what have you got to loose :p and Rachel...i would love to...but that would be unprofessional of me ...;) tbh i have deleted it anyway :) general consensus is then, getting a mini video diary reel sort of then, kool thanks ladies, any other tips let me know!! xxxx
CommentAuthorFaeth
Also skitty666, I know that some videographers do smaller packages to suit smaller budgets. I have seen more than one company offering stuff for far less than £1k, you just have to keep searching :-)
