I've got a really small budget, and although I've got a bit of time here, I'd like to get on top of the buffet menus.
During the day we're having what I call the knife & fork buffet with so far:-

3 Pasta dishes - tomato pesto and mozzarella
    - tuna pasta salad (basically mayo'd pasta, tuna and small chopped toms & cucumber!)
    - hopefully a chicken one! (cheap recipes needed?)
3 types of pasty- chicken, bacon & mushroom
    - pork, apple & sage
    - cheese ploughmans (yes, sounds a bit weird, but I make it all the time!)
Mini Pizzas - just sauce & cheese on these
EITHER Brushetta with toms and Basil OR Garlic Bread (prob garlic bread as the other's looking quite dear!)
    Potato Salad
Lettuce, cucumber, cherry toms OR would it be better to have 2/3 different mixed salads?
    Coleslaw
    and ????
Not even sure about some cheap puds, no sweet teeth at all in our house, except maybe cheesecake, we were going to have the wedding cake for pud, but my sister pointed out that it would be best to leave it till the evening as I'm making it myself and more people get to see it!!! lol

Any help gratefully received, and sorry its such a long post! xx

    Thanks guys!
Really can't use the wedding cake till the evening but I love the idea of cupcakes, I can decorate them in the same design!!!
H2B has also decided he'd like a cheese board, so that'll be expensive, thanks hun lol

Supposed to be having a friend do the buffet as she is a professional caterer and I'm to pay for ingredients, the rest is going to be my wedding present!
I thought it was really nice of her until she tried to take over, I also want some sort of crisps for the kids that are invited but apparently that's common and she says she won't use cheap ingredients, which is unfortunate as I won't be buying expensive ones!!!
I've priced this up as far as I can (using supermarkets not cash&carry type place) and it's working out between £1.50 - £2.00 per head which is pretty good! But with approx 60 to the day and then the evening on top, I'm going to run well over my budget! xx

Pavlova works out about £18 for 20 servings!
Bit expensive, will need to be minimal as there are 60 people.

Ok, loving the co-ordinating jelly idea, thanks Roxy!

Well finally spoke to my caterer friend, the problem is she wants to use their kitchen and although this sounds reasonable to start with, I apparently have to go in to book this separately from the function room, which of course means that we will have to hire it which means more money, so I've p***ed her off by saying that if it costs too much, I'll do the food at mine, lol she not happy at all!

    Keep forgetting about iceland!
The problem with rice is a risk of food poisoning, according to papers & caterer!

yeah kaz but if its kept in the fridge of whoever is doing it then its ok lol our family have had it at partys etc and no ones died yet lol but i see what you mean you could do your own cup cakes or make your own cakes like sponge cakes different flavours but that can sometimes be a bit costly we looked into a cheeseboard idea and it worked out really expensive what about things like chicken goujons you get them in iceland as well and they not to expensive just add a dip ohh and big bowls of pickles and beetroot thats not to bad price wise either maybe a couple of french sticks cut up and buttered xxxxx

Janet went to lidls and their cheeses are really good value!!!
Am seriously considering cupcakes as I've found a great supplier of rice paper butterflies and they'll be on my cake but look fantastic on cupcakes too!
