I was wondering what your thoughts on a funky photo booth would be for an evening reception??
Would it add a nice touch, memories etc or would it be to much and downgrade my day ?#
We have both discussed this and would need to book it soon so we can secure it for our date , but we are still undecided xxxx

I was going to book one but ended up being a wee bit expensive....but there is a company that I am friends with on FB that have recently got back in touch saying they have a new booth and they're offering it at 50% off as an introductory offer. So instead of £650 it will be £325 which includes:
3 hrs of Unlimited photo’s throughout event (one print per session), 2 Booth Butlers for the whole duration, Set up/ down of booth, Choice of photo layout, Custom message (name, date, event), Prop box, Hi-res disc of all images, Online gallery with password protection with FREE downloads Video messages-optional Guest book for guests to sign Double prints- one for guest and one for the guest book
So am tempted but will have to see how the budget goes!

That is the same as I am being offered not yet sure of the cost, will see my wedding planner on Monday and hopefully he will have more details for me .. It sounds like a fab idea and am glad someone else liked the idea also. Hope it works within your budget xxx
Beat of luck for your big day xxx

I really considered getting one but then our photographer does a photobooth type session in our evening for only £100 extra so thought it would be best to do that instead! I think its quite a fun idea
There are so many people out there who will tell you
what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!

definately go for it, i am and i know a few other b2b's are. I am doing a diy photo booth though. I think it would be a nice, fun touch :-) x

We were looking at photobooths at a bridal fayre recently! They are such a good idea! Although one company over here offers a videobooth, and the footage we saw was unreal. It costs the same as the photobooth, and you get a dvd full of lovely messages and drunken ramblings lol

i had it all booked but me and the guy who runs it had a fall out after they pretty much lied about what was and wasn't included. So I'd say go for it - just make sure they are clear on what you are getting and don't budge if the say 'it was a misscommunication' ect Maybe get EVERYTHING in writing for them too. I must admit I am a tiny bit gutted we aren't having them - but we're now having an XBox360 Kinect pod instead :D hehe

YES YES YES!!!! We are going to be having one at ours, either at 7-9 or 8-10 it acts as a sort of entertainment for guests as they can have as many photos as they like along with the print offs of their shoot-We'll be having a booklet with our package which every Photo from the photobooth will be stuck into and the guests can sign-a sort of guest book if you like but more fun I can imagine when people have had a few to drink the sort of photos there'd be and we would be in histerics most likely when we look through it, a great memory of our special day!

Sounds like a fab idea, i dont think my photographers will do this tho ....might think of how to 'create my own' and give my 14 yr old daughter a 'job' if she want to be behind the camera snapping away at guests with different props etc....hmmm good post - thanks, it's got me thinking :) x (thats a task somedays x 0

I think they are silly. x
CommentAuthor♥Future Mrs Midgley♥
At least the prop element is silly. Shouldn't the gusts be having fun already without having to resort to using stupid props? I am glad me and my partner agree on that. x
CommentAuthorbecky -mrs firth
its to make funny pictures lass? not to entertain really, people do have a laugh but its for greta piccies not just 'normal' ones

I'm hopin to have one, the props are there if the guests wanna use them but they don't have to and its a good momento for the day! Something people will frame and hang instead of chuckin it in a drawer or eating it. Fab favour idea me thinks!!!

We are having a photobooth, but no props. :) We don't like the idea of props either, seems more fun if people decide to pull a funny face or whatever. Mainly, we want nice pictures of people together in the sorta old fashioned, photo booth type way :)

I know I must come across as a right party pooper :-p In all fairness, me and my h2b did use one at the National Wedding Show and we actually had a right laugh looking at the pictures afterwards. We still laugh about it now. So actually, I have changed my mind, I think they are a great idea if your budget can stretch to it. I like that you get 4 different pictures in the strip. I also like the fact that the machine prints two copies: one for the couple to keep in their guest-book, and one copy for the guests to take home. x

I think it depends on your guests too. We went to a weddign recently where hardly anyone used it so it was a waste of money tbh
CommentAuthorMrsMelodyWalker
I had a sort of DIY booth which my photographer set up and it went down a treat, he got shots of every guests in all sorts of fancy dress and it was such a good laugh, really looking forward to seeing all the pics. It wasn't anything plush, he just set up a screen and we had boxes of fancy dress but it looked just as good as a proper photo booth and does the same thing

CommentAuthorMrsMelodyWalker
I only brought a few bits, like inflatable guitars from eBay and a policemans hat and halo, my photographer brought the rest and he got most of it from the pound shop. He didn't charge me anything to do it and he stayed till gone 10pm doing it which everyone was really impressed with. We missed a few group shots during the day so we done them in the evening dress in fancy dress, it looked fab. Yes it looked silly but it was the whole point, we wanted it to be silly! He has a few shots of me and my friends daughter beating each other up with inflatable guitars, quite possibly the best picture of the day lol x

I'd love something like this but the booths are too expensive. for my photographer during the day, we chose a package without him having to stay for the first dance. I might suggest this to him and see what he says ;) x
CommentAuthorMrsMelodyWalker
I'd highly recommend it, it was great. At one point there was even a queue of people waiting to have their pictures taken and as we managed to get shots of every guest, we're going to get them all printed out and sending each guest their picture with our thank you cards x

Antonia I think that's probably for the best - I really think you can't diy good photos. I can make my own backdrop but the rest us just not as easy as a camera on a tripod. The light is the problem.

after reading some diy photo booth forums that is what they did, just put a good camera on a tripod and just had an usher or somebody to check it over and snap away - its seems to have worked for them - i just cant be bothered or have the time to make a DIY one.

I don't like these pics as I am fussy with photography, I don't like the majority of so called professional wedding photography. It's not so much the camera (that aswell) but the light, daylight would be fine but in the evening - pics with flash are just awful. I might borrow a friends lights and reflectors. Let's see... I am not so keen on the actual hired booth photos aswell, best would be a manned set up :-)

We tried a booth at one of the fairs not long ago, I like the quality they give and think its worth the money (about £500)

we were seriously contemplating it but after seeing it done elsewhere, decided that if you are not very very careful, and this is our opinion only, then yea you are right and they can cheapen your day... which is annoying as they are actually really expensive. If it is the route you want to take, then double check it will look right with your venue and that it wont become what looks like a cheap and tacky add on. I think it depends on how they are designed themselves as I am sure you can find a nice looking one that wont cheapen the day but be careful with them.
