Well I had my hair and make up trial done today and although I like the results etc my hair has decided to drop very quickly and doesn't hold its curl without going messy very quickly. I'm just trying to figure out what to do now as its the look I want. They did put in product to help keep it in but my hair is very thick and heavy even though I have it thinned out. does anyone have any ideas?

Ooooh you look gorgeous! I love your eyes!
I have exactly the same problem and if my hairdresser uses tongs or rollers it drops pretty quickly. The only way she can get a decent curl is the blow dry the curl in tight with product, leave it without brushing it. The next day it has a lovely natural curl and body so THEN use the rollers or tongs etc to re define the curls again. It is the only was I can get any curl at all. I LOVE your tiara!

I think we may need to try something like that. I'm going to get in touch with her on Monday and let her know and ask her what she thinks is the best thing to do. I really do want curls. If you like the tiara you are more than welcome to borrow it Jill.

Maybe suggest blow drying the curl in and see how it looks then. Mine does not last half an hour just curled lol

I really hope it works the next time as I want it down on the day rather then up. Kev is convinced I'm having it up. He even said on the phone today that he knows it is up cause I keep playing with it in the bathroom. Its nice to know he is taking my subtle hints on board to throw him off the scent haha.

You look lovely ... I have very thick hair too which doesn't hold a curl no matter what I do ... I have tried so many things and nothing has worked, this was why I had my hair all up for my wedding and no curly bits as they would have ended up as straight bits!
Sorry I can't be more help xx

Aww Mell you looked lovely on your wedding day. I don't mind having my hair up but know that Kev loves it when it is down. I guess if we can't find a way then I may just have to have it straight and down.

i have the same problem .... one thing my hair dresser had told me is that she is goin to wash my hair with lemon washing up liquid that morning as it drys u hair out a little if it get greasy quick and easy and it takes away some of the natural oils that can make u hair fall so sud last longer also to make the curls as tight as u can so by time photos come they drop.

I suppose by washing your hair the day before and drying the curl in with product gives it the body etc to make the curl hold without the need for freshening up. Oooh you will have to report back Jo after you have tried all the different methods!

Thanks girls for all the lovely comments. I actually felt pretty which I haven't done in a long time. With me not being to good I've not really been able to look after myself the way I used to and the h2b hasn't always got time to do my hair for me. It was so nice to be all done up and feel like a girl again. I've also started to shed some pounds so getting some weight off my face has also helped and I'm going for some laser treatment so I don't have to shave my legs again! You guys are such a big confidence booster!

Did she put product on after curling it or before? I have very thick hair as well and when my hairdresser has curled it for me she has literally sprayed each individual section with hairspray just prior to putting the hair round the tongs - does make it feel solid, but it held the curl beautifully where normally it would have dropped very quickly x

Yeah she also sprayed each strand before curling it. Maybe the heat will set it better than just using the tongs. I think its going to be a case of trying different techniques now and seeing what works bet. I really hope we find something that works as I do love the way it looks. Either that or I will have to pay her for the whole day to follow behind me with the tongues lol.

I find that if you have your hair dampened at first, mousse then added and then blow dried with a curled brush to build volume into your hair then use a tong or similar and spraying each section whilst curling this should prolong the curl in your hair. When my hair was longer I used to do that myself and it would last a whole evening of partying and still be there the next morning but if I just tonged it when dry it only held the curl for about an hour before dropping out. xx

jo i have the same problem. my hairdresser is coming to my house the night before the wedding. he's gonna wash my hair and put it in rags as i have very thick and very heavy hair!
i know it holds when its like this cos it dries curly and then a curling tong is used to make the curls tidyier and so that they products can also be used to hold the style.
why not give this a try. i had it done when i was about 11 and it worked a treat even then. hope it helps xx

You look stunning in your pics!

The only tips I have to offer is to keep a small can of hairspray in your bag and some travel (battery powered) tongs! top it up throughout the day!

Wash your hair the day before, then put some curl definer gel spray just on the lengths of your hair and roll up into bendy curlers, sleep on it (if u can) or try rags, but that never works for me :( then in the morning, blits the still rolled hair with the heat setting on your hairdryer. Carefully take the rollers out, then parting your hair, take small sections and use straightners to curl your hair then spritz with a fine hairspray from a distance.
Using smaller sections on thick hair works really well as it's less weight dragging it down. xxx

Oh Jo you look breath taking, really really beautiful. With regards to your hair, I also have severly thick hair, for curls I would suggest a good curly blow dry and then ghd curls, always stays with my hair. If all else fails portable curling tongs lol???

My hair is the same - or rather the underneath stays curly but the top drops out and just frizzes :(
I think the previous suggestions of blow drying the curls in, then using tongs after would be best :) xx

You look stunning Jo...has your hairdresser tried doing a 'curly' blowdry...My friend has really thick and heavy hair and it just goes frizzy when totally straight so her hairdresser blow dries it with a round brush curling as she dries (not scrunching) then she sets it it huge velcro rollers, hairspray and tongs the unruly bits...usually last her a good 3 days before it straightens out
