Hi Ladies, I have been looking at a couple of venues to see if I can find one both my H2B and I like. We have not sorted out a definiative list of who we want to invite but have estimated that we will need a venue that will hold around 100. Should we get a list of who we want there now so that we have a firm number or just find a venue we like and invite as many people as we can. help !

I think you should sort out your list first of who is coming in the day then the extra's for the evening then find a venue that can accommodate them and also if u know how many your inviting, they will give you a price of how much the food will be per head so you will have a better idea of the cost.
I am now Mrs Stacey Stiles and loving it!

i personally would sort out numbers first how many for the day and then the total for the evening. then you can look at the right venues as you could be going to ones that are too small and wasting your time. doesn't need to be a definate number but a rough idea is good

I would do the guest list first and then look around for venues that can hold those numbers, and if the prices seem too high then cut back on numbers. That is the way we did it anyway, but it is whatever works for you, we are all different in the way we do things. xx

I think we did the venue forst before the guestlist so we knew how many paople we could invite but we only wanted 50 for the day and 100 for the evening so nearly everywhere was fine for us!

We thought that we wouldn't fill the 60 places for our venue but its easily done. Work out a rough number of all the important people and then that will give you a rough idea of costs and room size when you go to book your venue. If the list is getting out of hand cut off people you haven't seen in the last two years. If it still needs cutting then cut off the people you haven't seen in the last year. After all why pay for people you haven't seen in ages. Just make sure that you don't contract yourself in for loads more people than you will have or you will have to pay regardless of if they come or not so check out the maximum room capacity is going to be enough and get them to contract you for a lower amount and then you can always add on more nearer the time. If that makes sense?

Work out rough numbers of definates all day (who you can't cut), maybes all day, definate evenings and maybe evenings. Then look for venues. Its no good falling in love with a place that only sits 50 when you have to invite 60...
