We initially thought it would cost about £10,000 but it will be nearer £17,000. We are having 83 guests for the wedding breakfast and an extra 50 or so at the evening reception.

we were aiming for 12k but then after booking the venue, everything went bigger than we expected and now all in including rings and honeymoon, we are now looking at little over 30k but that is for EVERYTHING including 2 weeks in Sorrento, Italy. That is for 50 day guests and 80 in the evening. It is surprising where the money goes. We have not splashed out on choccy fountains or photo booths or anything like that so it is surprising but I guess it just creeps up. I know we went a little overkill with the entertainment tho but this was hubbys area and he said this is really important.

We are thinking about 12k (not including honeymoon) and that is for 85 day guests and 130 for the evening although these numbers keep going up. Both sets of parens are giving 4k each so we said we would put 4k towars it too.

hmmm Im just looking at my dream venue n they offer a package for £3k based on 60day and 100evening (may be a daft question BUT the 60day guests does that include B&G) n I thought if I chose the date thats the last on this offer (Sept 2013) that gives me just shrt of 2 yr to get it sorted if i went for this id budget say £5k so thats £200 a month hmmm now to put this to H2B!! AND just realised that would fall in with part of his plan to be married n hve kids by time e 30, only thing is we wouldnt have a child, but he'd of completed 50% of his dreams!!!

We are looking at about 18000 for 120ish people for ceremony, canapes, wedding breakfast, and evening party - not including the honeymoon which is flights back to Australia as we are moving there straight after the wedding! Both of us just wanted something really simple, but when we announced our engagement all of my family in Australia said they wanted to come to the UK for it. That was something we weren't really planning on, so now our close family has decided that the day needs to be something special - which means it has turned into a weekend, and in a venue that has to be older than Australia! We are lucky that we are going thirds with FIL and my parents, so with quite a long time to go it shouldn't be too hard to save for it. Also, I am making all invitiations, place settings, stationery and decorations myself...trying to save at least a little bit of money!

Hi, I am new on here. I joined a while ago but decided to have a proper look round tonight :)

I'm 46 and this will be my second marriage. I wanted to elope but my eldest son was most disproving and my sis in law to be would've been upset too although she always says to do what we want. Then there is MY sister who would want to be there and you get the idea. My thoughts of paying £600 for an elopement in Devon have turned into 8.5K *sob*. That includes a package at a nice hotel for 40 people for the wedding breakfast and another 40 for the evening @ £3000. Somethings have been expensive like my dress (ouch!) and the rings and yet I paid just £15 for the wedding invites off feepay. A friend is doing the photo's and another is doing the cake at cost. The inlaws have given us £500 and my sis and bro in laws to be have paid for the DJ. The 8 and a half grand includes the Honeymoon in Benalmadena, Spain, 2 weeks in a penthouse apartment, can't wait! :) x

Does he not realise we have been engaged 4 yrs and done nothing!! We could be married or on the final countdown now but noooooo we still haven't lifted a finger!!!

We were talking last night n he said weddings aint cheap blah blah blah, but they can be (but not tacky) he just needs to see that you shop round, a certain blue supermarket has STD (not a sexually transmitted disease) and invites for like £1.50 for 10 yes they are plain and simple and I would like to create my own but it shows the cheap options are there!

We're having 77 for the sit down Wedding Breakfast & an extra 70 for the Evening, Ours all in (including hooneymoon & making own stationery & decors) should be between 9 & 10k, I think it's prob a bit high but, hoping to make some savings along the way. To be honest we've kept it quite basic, so I dread to think what the budget would be if we'd have had it a bit more extravagant x

We have managed to do it all for £12k so far, so long as nothing goes wrong that is what we are sitting at at the moment anyway. Then another £3500 for honeymoon.
i made my own invites, post box, table plan, OOS, place cards, some decorations, etc etc. Whatever i could make myself I have done. My splurge has been booze, canapes and flowers. Really wanted real flowers, especially peonies in November!

Wooooow...i do not want to spend thousands on our wedding. For one day? I also dont want us to get into debt doing it. :(
We're planning a ceremony outside (hopefully), with a BBQ/hogroast and live band for the evening. Probably around 50 guests, possibly not even as many as that.
Luckily, i have a friend knows a caterer, a photographer and someone who does wedding cakes, plus i have two other friends, one for make up and one for hair, and a classic caddy which my uncle owns, plus i can have my dress and veil both made for me for the cost of the material with any luck. So really, we're looking at the cost of the venue and cut prices for everything else live bands included (fingers crossed!!)
Honeymoon i think we'll just ask guests for donations as opposed to gifts so we can actually have one haha!
All seems a bit far fetched tho at the moment, seems sooooo far away, we want it to be next year! :(

We're working to a budget of around £5000. It's 70 guests throughout as we're working on the basis that if we don't want them at the ceremony then we don't really want them there at all (that dounds harsher than we mean it!). We're having a late afternoon ceremony followed by afternoon tea. We're then hoping to have a little surprise for the guests, but I don't know if what I have in my head is possible until I speak to the venue tomorrow. Then it's straight into the evening do where we'll hopefully be able to get food stalls rather than a buffet. It's a fairly casual do, so hopefully the budget will be ok!

We have worked out a budget of around 7-8K and thats all from us - no offers of help etc but to be honest that suits us as its our way then. It has come at a price though - Mr P worked away in Australia with me left behind with the 3 kids for nearly 8 months so 2011 has been a tough old year! We were going to use money for a house deposit but since we are hoping to emigrate as soon as we can we have decided that this is more important to us at this stage in our lifes. Budget wont include honeymoon as onus for us will be to jet off to Australia to live as soon as we can.

We have a venue that we are really happy with and we got a fantastic deal - £3295 for 70 day and 100 evening and thats 3 course wedding breakfast, evening buffet, drinks package, ceremony and reception room, linen, toast master, DJ, bridal suite and breakfast!

Bought my dress yesterday for under £500 so Im really chuffed with that and everything else is coming in under budget so far ie made invites ourself and currently at £48 and just need to buy stamps

We sat down and made a minimum budget ie just essentials venue, food, registrar, outfits etc. Then we worked out a medium budget to include extras like Stag and Hen, Favours, Photographer and finally a Max out (in our opinion) budget which had extra entertainment, extra bridesmaids, spa treatments etc. We are having most from Max Out budget but looking at coming in at nearer Medium budget now we have researched and haggles lol

Working on a 3 dream plan for the next 5 years!
    Dream 1 = My gorgeous Mr P proposed - 4/9/11 Sydney Harbour
Dream 2 = Getting Married Easter 2012 by Bonnie Loch Lomond
Dream 3 = Working on that dream life in Australia

Our budget started at £12k. Then I started researching and discovered the REAL cost of weddings! Went to £15k, then £18k and now it is at £24k including our amazing honeymoon in Mexico for two weeks. My parents have given us £2k, which we are really grateful for; H2B's parents are paying for our cake (£550) but the rest is coming from us. I intend to have the most amazing day ever (once in a lifetime) and have done lots of DIY things (like my invites and STD cards) but have really splurged on others (string quartet, venue, photographer...).

I think budget is relative to your income or donations from family; 30% of my salary might be £3k, whereas 30% of someone else's could be £30k. You have to spend what you can afford and not worry about what the price is as long as the choices you make work well together and the people you want to share the day with are there to celebrate.

our venue will be £3500 for 70 day 100 eve but can invite upto 150 but threre catering for 100. kids under 5 aren't included in prices so that'll be 4 of my guests. i have a definate £2k maybe £3k to spend on rest but thats not including honeymoon which i'm not thinking about till close to the date or even just after to see how much we got. our numbers for day only include 2 close friends rest are all close family. a big bulk of evening will be family too but not as close as the others.
only been planning since end of november but so far only thing i've done is book venue and registrar, all the rest is in my head :)
