I think we have decided to get married on a Sunday But going for one with a bank holiday the other side (seems fair - otherwise it would be Saturday night and kids are invited and all that - cant do mid week because of the distance)
Is getting married on Easter Sunday silly? The day before may day bank holiday? The sunday before the spring bank holiday?
Because I have no clue what one would be best

mayday bank holiday is a Monday so yes there is a day before !!
please remember that alot of school holidays can be around these time so people pay book holidays
A lot of people go away/see families for Easter, plus hotels and venues may have special lunches on for Easter so might not be willing to do a wedding on that day. I'd go for one of the May ones, personally.

I am biased as we have gone for a Sunday before a BH Monday but Sunday before the second May Bank holiday is a great choice. The week after is a half term too.

I personally would say to avoid Easter Sunday as some people may not want to attend a wedding on a religious holiday, for Christians it is like getting married on Christmas Day.
One of the May Bank holidays would be good though, the second one is before half term I think so people may book holidays that weekend so I'd suggest going for the first bank holiday in May xx

Had our dream perfect honeymoon in Hawaii!
I personally wouldn't mind attending a wedding on those dates with the exception of Easter Sunday.

I would say the first may one better as the half term one, many families will be holidaying x

We have booked the sunday before mayday for this very reason, so I too am biased!

I would go for the first May one as sometimes the second May one falls in half term- I know it does next year as my hen is on that weekend.

Yeah I'd probably go with the may ones too as people may book Easter holidays e.t.c :)

If you want a church wedding you'll probably find Easter Sunday is out. In terms of school holidays, the early May bank holiday tends to be in term time, while the later one tends to be in half term. The August one would probably be ok as long as you tell people fairly soon, so they don't book holidays that weekend.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

We were looking at the last may bank holiday sunday, as we thought booking a sunday would be a lot cheaper. However when we spoke to our venue of choice we were told its only £100 more for a saturday, so now were back to deciding on a date again!! Also the last may bank hol does fall in school holidays, but as long as you send save the dates I dont think that would be a problem.

Just a word of advice - IF you are having a religious ceremony in a church on Easter Sunday, you will have to get special permission from the bishop! :) xx

Seems that May has the vote - I'll look at places for both and see what turns up.
Dont have the church issue being Jewish (hence the not getting married on a Saturday)

Ah right ok, sorry! Just thought I'd mention it in case you were, wasn't sure what your situation was :) x

i'm getting married 2nd may bank holiday in may, then it allows people time to stay and not have to rush off - fortunately our venue doesn't up the price for school holidays - have to say it didn't really cross my mind as my little one is only 14 months
