Were not asking for money, because we have managed to get a nice mix of gifts for people to choose from, however I know that my family are lazy and no matter how easy I make it for them to get a gift for us, they still will just dump money in a card! Anyhoo, there is so much contraversy on whether to ask for money, but my thing is, hopefully the people you invite to your wedding know you well and you know them, so you would know whether they would take offence to being asked for money? Also its not great to expect gifts, however you just know you will get them, so why not make it easy for some people and do a gift list? Nothing worse than knowing you bought a gift for someone and theu didnt want or need it.

Thats what im hoping Kesha, that my family and friends will know we have all we need for the house and if they wish to give a gift, that we would appreciate money or vouchers for honeymoon. So im going to leave it and not ask for anything lol x

we are asking for money/holiday vouchers, we do not need anything for the house and would love a honeymoon, everyone i have told about it is pleased that they dont have to go and buy a present, they like the idea of it x

We are having a traditional gift list. I find money impersonal. However, I think how you word the request is the important bit. I know a lot of people find the poems extremely rude and demeaning, but a short explanatory note- or by word of mouth- perfectly acceptable. So know your audience!

Personally id rather someone asked for money/vouchers than me searching for a gift they dont/wont appriciate. I wondnt be offended if i asked what they wanted and they said money but thats just MO. We are going to tell the immidiate wedding party then they can pass it on if anyone asks x

H2b said to say no gifts ...but i pointed out that i for one coulds never go to a wedding with no gift and i know most people feel like this so i would rather get stuff we want be it money or actual gifts than end up with 19 sets of towels and 3 matching BBQ ( first wedding) and besides anything else his mother would give us rubbish if left on her own .......then it would just go to ebay or carboot
we re going to awedding next month were the couple have said they dont want gifts so while in vegas we had tee-shirts handmade for them with mr lloyd and mrs lloyd grafitted on the back they look fab and they can wear them on honeymoon

if ppl ask us if we hav a wedding list we hav just said if they wish to giv us something then we wud appreciate holiday vouchers. i think it makes thing easier for ppl cos i never know wot 2 buy 4 wedding pressies xx
