We are having sweetie jars. Have asked my auntie to save the glass baby food jars and she is even soaking the labels off for us as she goes :) will buy lots of pastel coloured sweets in bulk (pastels are our colour theme) and have different pastel coloured material tops. Will tie twine round the lid and tie little keys and locks onto the twine as well (have a little bit of a lock and key theme going on as well which is something personal to me and OH). Oh, we have also ordered stickers to go on the front saying "Love is sweet, enjoy our treat" and has Mr & Mrs and the date on the front :) so excited to see them once they come together!! xx

I have no idea what to do for mine, I have seen some favour boxes that I like but I don't know what to put in them! I was thinking of getting personalised love hearts with our names and the date, some wedding cake shaped bubbles and other bits but I'm not sure if putting random things into the box will look silly? Does anybody have any ideas of what to put in them? There is no particular theme to our wedding but our colours are lilac and white.

It's going to be hand made lip balm in tins for the ladies, spirit miniatures for the men and I'm still thinking what I can get for the children as they vary in age range. I've also made personalised labels to go on the favours for the adults.
CommentAuthorAmyN135
We are donating a few quid per guest to two charities instead of favours. His choice of charity for the male guests and mine for the female. I'll probably get little party packs for the kids though.

We're having little birds nests to match our theme of country/spring :) They're totally cute

Personalised chocolate branded sweets in little bags, we will attach tags with people's names on so they act as place cards too.

Where are you all getting your miniature alcoholic bottles from ladies? Xx
CommentAuthorLynneN78
MrsHenderson2B - I've ordered empty bottles with lids so that I can fill them myself as it worked out cheaper doing it this way x

Thank you LYnneN78. That makes sense as we are going to Kefalonia Greece for our wedding so would make more sense buying bottles here and filling them there maybe.
Thank you for your answer xxx

Elizabeth that reminds me of an idea I saw. Dip the base of the wine glass in chalk board paint then write the guests name on that. Doubles up as place card.

For the kids though I have bought activity packs that are personalised to the age and to our wedding I got off the bay of e.
As thank you presents I am getting the ladies (mums, his grandma and my great aunt) love spoons with Diolch (thank you) written on.

The best men, we haven't decided yet as we paid a lot to hire their suits

We have changed our mind. As my Dad came so close to dying of a major brain aneurysm last year we have donated to the QE hospital Birmingham instead. He received first class care for 4 months there and they have gave us some trolley tokens to give our guests which we didnt expect. I think this is better than any favor we could give our guests.

We're thinking of scratchcards :-)

We were thinking of love heart sweets with the wrappers with our names and date on. H2B has owned up that he didn't like that idea so luckily I didn't go ahead and order them, We now deciding on candles for the women and possibly lottery tickets for the men, As most of them are couples they won't want 2 lots of candles. A lot of the men don't drink so having trouble what to get them all. going to get the flower girl a teddy bear and bridesmaid a trinket box with their names on.

Our wedding day - 6 October 2012

Hi All,
I am quite new to this and was wondering if you could help please. I get married in September and my theme is Hollywood glamour vintage! I am a little stuck on favours. As an idea our wedding will be in a Marquee with a stunning view, we have 4ft chandeliers for our centrepieces which are all crystal with an LED light in the middle and ruffled chair hoods for our chiavari chairs. Our colour scheme is clinical white with Navy bridesmaids. For favours we have discussed about the women having navy glittered wine glasses (just the stem) with their initial on the glass bit so they can drink wine at the reception in this glass and take it home with them and for the men to have miniature alcoholic drinks as all of our male friends enjoy a drink along (especially my partners 20 odd school friends which they have been very close since junior school!!!!
What is everyone's opinions on this??? I wanted to add a little navy on the tables so will be tying navy ribbon around the napkins and having the navy wine glasses??? is this to tacky or would you be happy to have one of these as a favour??
We will also be making a donation to the Alzheimers Society in support of my nan who is currently suffering from this.
Thanks for your feedback in advance xx
I am very interested in Yankee Candles whats the link? Cheers

Inkeeping with the handmade style of our wedding (Most of it is handmade/custom) we are going to be giving our guests handmade chocolates from a local business in town. They make such gorgeous chocolates. We will be cramming about 2 or 3 per person into the gold lantern boxes I finally managed to track down. (They've gotten super rare and expensive suddenly.) I was also considering the traditional sugared almonds to go on top to fill the gap.
But, for the kids we have as guests we got hold of some fun plastic favour boxes in different shapes (Dinosaur, cat and piggy bank. Each 99p or £1 from the Last Detail) and we'll be filling them with sweets like dolly mixture, or Millions.

I'm getting married in the autumn so thought I'd try and make chocolate or toffee apples myself.... Maybe decorate with our initials or the date.
Hoping they won't be too sticky to make!

I might sound mad but honestly does everyone do favours?
I didn't even know what they were too a little while ago haha - are they put on the table before people sit down??

CommentAuthorFlossie
I'd say the majority of people give favours. Yeah, just put them on the tables x

Id say most people do give favours at their wedding.
Some people do it different and make a donation to a charity that means something to them so might just have a card on the table telling the guests that's what you have done instead of actual favours lots of things you can do and lots of options to keep it simple or inexpensive too xx

How much has people budgeted for favours? I was thinking about £1 per person but I don't think that's going to happen, I don't want to seem cheap but I'd rather spend less on favours and have more funds for entertainment or food. I have decided everyone will be getting sparklers but these will be in pots for people to help themselves to for midnight, my other favour thoughts are: *A CD of our wedding songs and songs that are special to us (although this could be embarrassing especially as the one song we always sing to each other is babycakes haha). *Mini magic 8 balls- h2b is a big pool & snooker player but I would be looking about £3-£4pp for these *Lego- I saw a thread the other day about having lego as a center piece and I love the idea works well too as h2b is a bricky so would reflect him in a major way... would like to personalise it some way tho but I'm not sure how *Hot chocolate jars- but we are offering hot chocolate as one of our reception drinks so don't know if this would work *New years eve pack- including blowers hats glitter confetti, not sure about this tho as I would like something my guests could keep I have a few years to decide tho so I'm keeping an eye out for the perfect idea

I think £1 per person is pretty standard. Not sure what ours will work out at, but it will be cheap!!
