The jury is still out as to whether we have someone video our wedding or not - having spoken to a few friends who have been to weddings over the last couple of years they have said its in decline.... would you agree?

If you have to pay for it then I would say don't bother, but my h2b is a film student so his friend is doing it all for us as a wedding present, but if he wasn't then I wouldn't have one. They can cost £500+ and I would look at photos more than watch the video! xx

Personally, am definitely going for a videographer for my wedding, it's something you can look back on for many times to come and remember a wonderful day and all the special moments, there's so much going on on the day that there'll be things you miss or forget, so if you have it on video, you can watch it back and remember and it'll be something to show any kids and even grandkids further down the line :-) xxx

We are deffo having one for the reasons that, there will be so much going on you wont take it all in and I know for a fact il be watching it over and over and you get to relive moments too and see things like the guests arriving etc. so I would say its a must

One thing that some videographers do is record messages from some of the wedding party (i.e. bridesmaids etc.) to send best wishes for the future, which is a really nice touch to have included in it xxx

If you are having a church wedding or any musicians you need to check with them. Our church has told us that if we have a video in the church (or if any guests try to video it on their phones) the cost of the organist and choir will be doubled, something to do with their licence. The vicar told us that one couple told their guests not to video, but the organist caught a guest filming on her phone, so the couple got home from their honeymoon to find a £500 bill!!

    We are having one.
I have a slightly odd reason behind it. I lost my dad when I was 19, we have no home videos, answer machine messages or voicemails. I have no way of ever hearing his voice again or hearing him say he loves me.
And I swore I wouldn't leave our son the same legacy, at least this way if something happens to me or H2B, our little one can see us smiling and happy and laughing whenever he wants :)

We're not getting a videographer. Both of us hate the thought of being filmed (I HATE my voice on tape, I literally cannot listen to it, it doesn't sound like 'me'), and we just would not watch it, ever, or want anyone else to watch it. So, we've splurged on photography instead, as we LOVE photographs, and will get a lot of pleasure out of them, so they're worth every penny we're spending.

I am looking at getting one from the local college. To me it doesnt need to be anything fancy. I just want the ceremony filmed, the speeches filmed, toasts, Cake cutting & first dance h2b doesnt dance, we have been together just over 6 years and we have never danced with eachother! I want our only dance on film! He promised me one dance and i want to be able to look back on that one and only dance when im 3005 years old in me rocking chair on me porch as a little old biddy! LOL

We didn't have one. We had the option when we booked the photography package but we weighed up the pros and cons and decided that realistically how many times it would be watched afterwards it seemed a waste of time and money.

Our photos have everything we needed and we can look at them a lot more than we'd have watched a DVD (and I've found people are more inclined to look at your wedding pics rather than sit and watch a whole DVD lol).

We weren't going to, but then I found a 1/2 price deal so we did. I'm glad we did as there were some people who weren't able to make it, and then I was able to send them a copy which they loved. I think we have only watched it once in full.

Originally I really wanted one but we haven't got the budget for it. But the more I think about it, the more I'm unsure. I don't like my voice on tape and I wouldn't want to watch it back and cringe! Lol! Personally I think photos are more important because I imagine I'll look at the photos all the time but I don't know how often I'd watch the video.

we're not bothering, I just don't think I would watch it again after the first time. Just the photographer for us, my dad will probably use his video camera and that will do

For me it would seem like a waste of money

I'm considering it, as there will be so much we'll miss as we can't be with everyone through the whole day, so it'd be nice to see who's chatting to who, to capture the funny things kids say (might prep them with some questions to ask the kids), to see people enjoying the food, or noticing the little extra touches we're putting in place...
