oh my word... i have never been so stressed in my life!

planning a wedding is just horrific! when your mother in law decides to be a twonk (foul language is not aloud otherwise a better word would have been picked) !!

many girls dream of getting married in the uk... me no! i have never.

    cut long story short..

found gorgeous hotel in jamaica.. adults only so me and oh decided we would stay here and all the guests would stay at the hotel next door that accepted children, fine all done.. getting excited!

ohhhhh nooooo the mil has decided that now she doesnt want that and we should all stay together!..
so she is withdrawing her budget for the wedding.. and just wont come!

so basically now... i have to move my wedding from jamaica to cyprus to accommodate her needs!!
all the wedding packages we looked at in the caribean we mainly adult only.. or if the children were allowed in the hotels the trip adivsor reports we poor!.. plus would i want to be stuck for 14 days with the mil around us in a small resort! NO!

so today i have cried an cried and my mum and i have come to some sort of an agreement not to have the wedding in the caribrean but have it in cyprus instead, where the resort is bigger and that my partner and i can have our space away from his parents and my in laws!

Omg!!! Honey this is just absolutely awful! Wot on earth is she thinking??? I think u should tell ur H2B 2 speak 2 his mum about it! If not send ur mum round (mums can be blooming brilliant in these kinda situations)

We r getting married abroad and my OH parents dont want 2 come at all as its abroad and apparently "its 2 hot"

Put ur foot down hun, if she doesnt like it, TOUGH!!

Chin up my sweet, hope it all works out.

Ah sorry to hear that your MIL has caused you probs. sounds very unreasonable to me! Why couldn't they stay next door? To me it seems like she wants to be the centre of attention. You wouldn't invite her on your honeymoon if you got married in the uk so why would you just cos you got married abroad!

Good news is Cyprus is a fantastic location for a wedding. I'm getting married there next year and there's quite a few Cyprus brides on the forum who are all here to get excited with you. Do you have any ideas of resorts that you like in Cyprus?

my h2b has had many words with his mother but she literally 1) doesnt listen 2) loves to be center of attention (his whole family are like this!!)

looking at thomson's wedding brochure cyprus does look gorgeous! and they resorts could be anywhere in the world!

teganandrob - i am looking at booking the altanica aeneas resort and spa in nissi beach, how about you?

Nisei Beach is gorgeous. My friend got married at the Olympic Lagoon on Nissi Beach this year and said it was amazing. We stayed at an Atlantica hotel in Limassol over Xmas and it was great. Haven't been to the one at Nissi but if it's anything like its sister hotel in Limmassol it will be amazing. We're getting married at the Elias Beach in Limmassol. My family live just outside of the city so it's perfect for us, plus the wedding is at the end of a pier looking out over the ocean. Perfect for a beach bum like me!

If you do a search for "official Cyprus thread" there's a whole thread for us Cyprus brides. Loads of great info in their and some great girlies too!

What a plonker your MIL is?! And how selfish of her. However Cyprus is beautiful and you'll get a lovely wedding pulled together out there xx

Ah im sorry to hear you're having a hard time with your MIL2B, however you are not alone, and are not the first bride to rant away on here!

Got to say though, as much as you shouldnt have to change your plans to suit other people, Cyprus is definitely a good choice! we were originally going to get married abroad but have decided on UK now, same for my SIL2B and we were both going to do it in Cyprus. It is a beautiful choice and the packages are really reasonably priced. It will still allow you and your hubby 2 be to have the time out you want to relax and spend quality time together as well as hopefully keeping the peace amongst other family members!

If you are going to go for Cyprus, somehow sit down with your MIL2B explain the new situation and that you've changed it once, your not going to change it again, and make a stand and get her to listen! If she dont like it, she can lump it!!

Good luck :) Cyprus is gorgeous!! Wish i was still marrying there tbh! xx

Oh hun I'm so sorry your having problems with the MIL...I had a horrific time planning my first wedding 25 years ago because of the MIL so I know how upsetting they can be. In the end it's your wedding, not theirs, I think your H2B should let his mum know what a huge sacrifice you are making for her and remind her that its your wedding and if she keeps upsetting you then she won't be invited, never mind using the old I won't come trick to get her own way. It worked for us after a lot of battling and me crying coz of her, his dad offered to give us the money to elope...LOL...Don't be letting her rail road you into things you don't want. Good luck planning and remember this is your wedding try not to give in to her demands too much, you have what you want. Cyprus is a gorgeous place and I know you'll have a wonderful wedding xx

well girls CHANGE OF PLAN AGAIN!!... lol my h2b and i went to view a venue in this country to see all options and have now fallen in love with it!.. and as for getting married abroad anywhere, it is stopping the hassle of people moaning about the price etc!

i feel by going abroad that i am trying to please everyone, where as in this country because now my h2b and i will pay for most of it, we are not trying to please everyone and their budgets etc!!

i actually feel quite calm about planning a wedding in this country funny enough lol!!

Gosh talk about a whirlwind for you camilla! I'm glad you have the whole thing sorted, planning things is hard enough without all the things you have had to deal with!

I personally want to get married in Spain as I grew up there, but I won't even mention it to the OH as I know he wouldn't go for it at all as he wants his grandparents there and they are both now far to old to travel. I've compromised with having my hen night there!
