I used to come on here a lot last year, but then I was just getting jealous of all you lovely people actually planning weddings and we hadn't set a date so I skipped it for a bit, but I can announce that we are getting married JULY 6TH 2013 - which is my parents wedding anniversary and the day after my future MIL's birthday.
I am so excited - even though its months away.... I just cannot sleep tonight! Got so many ideas running round my head!
We have got the church, we have got a ten bedroom house and we have guests to fill it. We are only having 16 guests as we would rather have a weekend celebration with our nearest and dearest than a great big wedding breakfast for people we only occassionally see. So our guests will arrive Friday for tea and chilling in the pool/ games room/ hot tub/ garden, Saturday breakfast, Wedding ceremony (800 yards from house), Few drinks in pub (between house and church), Wedding Breakfast with speeches etc, then evening entertainment then a big breakfast on Sunday before going home.
We have got a venue for a big party later on in July, where we will have a semi-traditional night do but with a few differences. We are going to have lots of activities for the kids - face painting, soft play area, oversized games, etc, a raffle with money going to the local childrens hospital wards, really big scalectrix for the big kids, projector with our wedding day photos.... Just a fun, family, laid back atmosphere.
Now there are a few things we could use some advice for:
1 - On the evening of the actual ceremony what could we do?
2 - The big party venue is no longer available the following weekend after the wedding, would it be strange to go on the honeymoon inbetween?
3 - I am making a brooch bouquet - what could I do for two flower girls and button holes?
4 - As I am not having really flowers, my dress is quite vintagey (Tusneem - scarlet) and I am going to have floral shoes - would it be strange to ask all the female guests to the weekend do to wear a floral dress to the ceremony? I just think that as there wont be many of us, a mismatch of floral patterns would just look beautiful...
Thanks in advance
A reallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly excited bride to be xxxx

We had a small wedding in Gretna with just close family as well. Most of the guests stayed at the same hotel as the wedding party, with some staying in another hotel a couple of doors down. The night before the wedding (Friday) we all went to the local pub for drinks and a meal (a bit of a bonding experience for both families as well).
On the day of the wedding we got married at 2.45pm about a 5 minute drive from the hotel. Afterwards we went back to the hotel for the reception (we had the full use of the restaurant til we finished around 7pm).
During the rest of the night we went into the hotel bar and arranged with them to play our own CD's, so finished up taking over lol. We drank and danced and it was a really good atmosphere as we got to talk to all the guests as there were only 19 of us.
Three days later we flew to Malta for our honeymoon (one week) - but once we were home we had an evening reception locally for everyone else who didn't come to the wedding, as well as wedding guests. It wasn't strange going on honeymoon in between the wedding and evening reception - and we printed out a few wedding photos (A4 size) for the tables at the evening reception so that people could feel part of the wedding anyway.
As for asking the female guests to wear floral dress for the wedding - it might work but personally I wouldn't as not everyone is comfortable wearing floral (or it might just not suit them).
Not sure what advice to give with regards to your bouquet - sorry.

Aw congratulations :) so happy for you!!! Happy planning!!
I definitely think the floral idea is a lovely touch & I'm sure all the ladies will happily oblige! Perfect time of year to find beautiful floral dresses & definitely adds to the vintage theme!! Nice dress code on invites too!! X

Congratulations and good luck with the planning
One tip which has helped me loads is it's your day so do what you both want! Keep that in the back of your mind and you will do what you feel is right and not what people expect!

I think having the honeymoon inbetween is a cool idea :) Then when you come back to the party you will have a tan and be all relaxed and have stories to tell people!!

Although just realised that we will have to book the honeymoon first so that we know when to book the evening do for. I didn't think about a tan n stories - that's a real bonus!
We booked the church today :-D can't stop grinning!
Exciting times :) xxx

We got a digital photo frame and had that on a table at our 'home reception'. We put on a load of the Vegas photo's and it was a real talking point for everyone. Very exciting times! x
