i'm based in Leeds hun :-) best way for a bargain is go out of season Nov-April and do a weekday, you save money this way
i'm getting married at Pudsey Parish church and having my reception at Mercure Leeds Parkway. a lot of hotels offer packages as well so if you can make one of those fit into you plans you can save even more
8th September 2012 I married my best friend

Hi Lucy, congrats. I live in Pudsey, like Soon to be Mrs Mann, if you want good discounts/pay less, choose out of summer season. What is your budget? where about in West Yorkshire do you live and planned to get married?

Hi Lucy - I'm getting married in Dorset where I am originally from. But have got all the outfits from up here. Maids are in a victorian lilac colour, got the dresses from Fantasia Bridal in Normanton who are absolutely fab and so friendly and helpful, then my dress and suit hire from Precious in Garforth...she runs the shop by herself and is the most helpful lady in the world, we are buying her a small gift after the wedding cos she is that lovely!! We've had the venue booked since 30th March last year and get married this year on 2nd April.
How are you going with all the decisions? Any help, just give me a shout!

Hi Lucy, I'm from Barnsley so not far from West Yorkshire but my partner is from Brighouse. I'm getting married in June on Saturday so costing a fortune but saving money by doing a lot of DIY (invites, table plan, names, decoration etc) Where about's is Alison's shop she seems so highly recommended I think I may have to pay her a visit?

Hi girlies. Hope your all keeping warm in this cold spell!
lysblanc -Hi hunni - Im from Huddersfield and no wedding booked as yet. We are having an engagement meal with our family and friends this weekend. When do you get married? x Liza247 - Hiya, thanks for the advice about the wedding fayre. What time is it on? Are you going? xx
Authormym72 - Thank you for the advice about the shop - will keep my eye out for them. They should understand that trying on the dresses is the fun part and of course knowing the prices is also very important. People cant afford to spend loads on dresses can they x RobynFrances1990 - Hi how are you? Have you booked your venue? Whats Gomersal Park like? x
princesspixie - Hello - Im orginally from Brighouse too. Where are you getting married|? Yeah getting married on a Saturday can be expensive. I have so many brouchures at home to look through lol XX
Soon to be Mrs Mann - Hello - I havent booked anything apart from organised an engagement meal with family and friends which i am so excited about. Cant wait to see everyone and have all my favourite people in one place. Are you going to the wedding fayre at the weekend? I bet you have been to loads havent you? x
kirstyless - Hi, Aw she sounds lovely. Ill definately be asking you for help when I get to that stage of choosing my dress. What style dress have you gone for? What are you doing for your hen party?
If anyone is up for a coffee at some point give me a shout xxx

Hi Lucy!
I've gone for an asymmetric dress. I actually went there with the design I wanted and I always said I wanted a strapless dress, but I got tempted to try on when I got there and ended up falling in love with this dress (pic on my page if you wanna look). You honestly do know when you've found "the one".
My hen do has been abit of a let down to be honest, but I'm sure it'll be fun. I'm having a sort of mini one this weekend when I go back to Dorset, so I'll be going for a meal with old friends which will be fun! Then my main one we're just going to Leeds, having a meal in the Bar and Grill then off round some clubs. I really really wanted to do a dance class, but me and moh were silly and asked two of my closest friends (who we also work with) their opinion and they said they didnt want to do it, we suggested snowboarding, spa, flirting and foreplay class, naked male drawing class and many other things, but unless it involved getting absolutely wrecked they didnt wanna know, so I am abit gutted but it'll be good! Plus H2B has said we can go to some dance classes :) xx
CommentAuthorFuture Mrs Doublé
I know what you mean kirstyless I had the same problem, my friends didn't want to take a burlesque or cancan class, so it stressed me out so much that I let my SIL plan it now and all I insist on is that it is burlesque dress theme. Lucy I am getting married last day of June, feels like its tomorrow already, can't wait. I am off work atm but if I am near Hudds I'll let you know it'd be nice to meet up

I'm glad its not just me that has had that problem. I'm getting really nervous for the big day now though, I just hope it all goes ok!

Think it starts at 10 until about half 4 ish I think. Yeh im going, i would definately recommend Precious Bridal too, was the best experience in comparison to the others I had been too, alison put my whole party at ease, showed us & spoke about the dresses n asked me to chose some I liked which I did. She wasnt in anyway pushy or make u felt as though you should buy from her. Once i decided on my dress she got out the champers for everyone :-)
I get married on 18th august this year & going to magaluf for four days on my hen do. I have changed my mind on loads of things, I found attending wedding fayres and looking at different companies (bakers, florist, bridal shops etc) to gain ideas for colour schemes, flowers, dresses, table centrepieces etc.

CommentAuthorMrsSaraParry!
Hi girls, can't believe I haven't noticed this thread before! I live in Garforth :o) Precious is a wonderful shop - if I hadn't already bought my dress when Alison opened I'd have gotten mine from there, she is such a lovely lady! She even offered to have her seamstress do my alterations and steam my dress for me when I was having trouble with the original shop, even though I didn't get my dress from there. If anyone hasn't sorted their flowers yet, I can highly recommend Flower House in garforth too, they're really reasonable prices and the lady is lovely :o) xxxxx

oooo crossing the boundary lol
i went to one at the Mercure Leeds Parkway organised by the Yorkshire Evening Post, it was pretty average and i only really went to see what changes had been made to the hotel which so far aren't many.
i managed to speak to the in house make up artist though and she was more than happy to do my make up and they offer pamper afternoons, dinner and breakfast for £99 per person, we are going to stay at the hotel the night before anyway so we might as well do something nice as well. me and the 2 BM's :-D

Hi Lucy we are getting married at Leeds Town Hall which i love the building and then having our reception at Great PReston Village Hall not too far from Garforth where my parents live (its not like a village hall though more like an old church which a goregous big church window at front)
we are having fish and chips for main meal and ice cream tricycle for dessert so this has kept the cost down and a buffet at night time.
i have made all my own centre peices and im making my own invites and have got my save the date cards from v...print and im sticking magnets on the back to create magnet save the date cards.
Hope this helps.

Hi everyone
Another one from Leeds here. Live in Morley, near the White Rose.
We're getting married in Scarborough in September next year. Booked for a Monday and got 30% off (although having a few problems with the venue now!).
Does anyone have any suggestions on local places to buy bits and pieces for DIY invites? Looked at a few places but things seem a bit pricey... it's looking like it might be cheaper to just buy them online - get someone else to do it! lol
CommentAuthorMrsSaraParry!
staceyquantick I used to live in Great Preston! In fact, my mum still lives there, and I now live in Garforth :o) The village hall is a lovely old building, gets pretty drafty in the winter though! lol. My mum runs a community wind band there every Thursday evening. Small world, huh? xxx

Getting married in at the Pavilion Hotel in York. We couldn't find anywhere we liked in Leeds or Wakefield, so ended up looking in north yorkshire and finally found this place in York. We love York, and would live there if we could afford it, so seeing as we can't we're just going to get married there instead :o)

We went to the GMEX wedding fayre on Sunday. I went with my mum, mother in law to be, best friend from uni and my 4 brides maids. Two of my friends are already married and three were single but we had the best day ever. My friends loved pretending they were also getting married and loved getting all the freebies. We had champagne cocktails, sweets, cupcakes and candy floss. What a fab day. The fashion show was great - definately helped me to decide which dresses i liked and which i definately would never ever wear. My problem is that i hate being centre of attention. Im a school teacher and I dread whole school assemblies etc .. so the dress I choose has to hide all the bits i dont like :) xx
