our photographer penciled us in the 10th august as thats the date we were hoping to have. people who have read the date change post will know that we have had to push it back 3 months etc and i said all this while profusely apologising to the guy said there wasnt anything we could do about it etc. he never replied even after being online and about an hour later i saw this status.... Grrr clients messing me around and ruining my plans! That's business though I guess :(
Im rather miffed if this is about me, as i apologised and said to him the date may change.
on the up side he was charging us about 700 for 5 hours and all prints on disk free of copyright etc where as i have just found someone whom i know even better than him who wants to shoot her first wedding but is worried if they hate her style as it's a bit different they wont pay her and it will flounce her confidence if that happened. i know this girls work she's really good and if she messes up one or two pics im not gonna be miffed because i know she will have taken quite a few shots of each pose so one of them will come out great. and due to that she is doing me the same deal he has done, but for 25 an hour.... which i think is amazing!!! i really do trust her and i know she wont get miffy if we have to change the date again haha

Humph sounds like he's shown his true colours then - and very unprofessional too.

Unfortunately, weddings get postponed all the time and for the sake of three months you'd have thought hed be fine. I could understand if you'd only had like two months before you got married, surely they appreciate that plans do change that far in advance?

Oh well. At least you have a better deal now and sounds like you might save some pennies! Xx

Exactly. i just think its daft the way he acted! Yeah she is lovely! i had a long convo with her earlier about what we wanted and she's really excited. when i said how many hours and what it added up to, she was like is that too much?? it amounts to 200 for 8 hours with a 2 hour gap for dinner as she was originally just going to be a guest anyway. but i cant believe she was worried that 200 was too much. i did say to her that it was fine, and if i liked the pictures etc she would probably get a bonus as i feel like i have got an amazingly good deal for 8 hours at 200 with prints on disk too :-D

Don't be friends with clients on Facebook if you want to use it as a place to bitch about them. Idiot! Sounds like you're gonna get a better deal anyway so sod him!

I'm a photographer and here is my 2 pence worth. Is your friend charging you 25 per hour including the hours after the wedding that they well be editing your wedding photographs? First wedding or not, have they got insurance?

As for your original photographer. When you change the date that means the old date becomes available again. He may well have had to decline work based on you're date changes only to find out he did not need to decline that work. The chances if him getting that work back is slim. He could have lost out and that is why he is annoyed. His income is probably a lot less stable than most other peoples.

CanonMan, I understand where your coming from, but still unprofessional to complain about it on facebook, where clients can see it. if i see a 'professional' complaining about clients, i wont recommend them.

I see CanonMan's point of view and your right about him possibly turning down other work but complaining on Facebook.... surely you want to create a positive, professional image on FB. A cheap photographer was recently bad monthed on FB and all hell broke loss and he had a argument back with this women which esclated... no matter how cheap or amazing this man was i would never book him as made him self look stupid and rude and he lost customers through it. I say you have had a lucky escape honey !!! xx

It includes everything canonman and she will be getting it next time she gets paid as i have explained to her everything it entails. and tbh he was the one that pencilled it in, i never asked him to. and besides it's over a year in advance it's not my fault i have had to change the date it was totally out of my hands so whinging about me to what he thinks was behind my back is wrong. oh and he's got weddings in the seychelles coming up, band shoots etc. trust me he is making a mint. I just dont see how a provisionally booked date that he knew was subject to change needed to be such a massive deal, it's not as if it's the month before!
