we are at the church (in the church hall) - having mulled wine / tea/ coffee / winter pimms and cakes before going to the hotel - saving us £500! x

Ours was included in our package but we managed to keep drink costs down by not having bottles of wine on the tables, instead everyone was given a glass of wine and offered one top up if required. We found that no one wanted the top up as most people had already their own drinks from the bar so we didnt have any extra to pay above our package price. xx

We had Pimms to occupy people while we were off having photos took for an hour. Felt it was a bit rude to abandon people for that long without a drink- but it was definately an extra not a neccisity.

Ours is all part of the package so we are having them as well as two glasses of wine with dinner and a toast. To be fair it worked out just as well having the complete package as what it would have if we had paid for room hire etc etc and then got our own drinks in. We are having Pimms I think just because I like it and I'm not so keen on wine. You could always do a non alcoholic drink like grape and lemonade? The drivers would enjoy this, the kids can have it and its refreshing. It doesn't have to be wine etc.

2 options - a) drinks package ie a drink on arrival, wine with the meal and then sparkling wine for the toast.

    b) Money behind the bar for your guests 1st drink with compliments of the Bride and Groom, then the option of wine on the tables (usually 5 glasses per bottle) and bottles of sparkling wine for the toast (6 glasses per bottle) this is a great money saver.

We're having a glass of white wine spritzer or a bottle of beer on arrival, 2 glasses of wine with the meal and a glass of sparkly for the toast

    Hope this helps

    xxxx

We decided on an intimate wedding ceromony/breakfast, so we have only 35 guests, our welcome drinks were included in the package to be served hopefully in the ground which will give us a good chance to have our pics, we are also putting money behind the bar for their first drink...

I like the idea of serving drinks after the ceromony at the church, I would have pinched that idea had we have not gone for the package option x

If I was doing my own, I'd go for Kir Royals, Asti & Cassis, bargain fruity cocktail

we are, but i hate bucks fizz which a lot of ppl seem to have, and i dont like pimms either, and i'm not overly keen on wine(i'll drink it if its there, but if theres a choice!).... we're just planning on having a non-alcoholic welcome drink,a special fruit punch cocktail thing, then provide more alcohol with the wedding breakfast x

We are having champagne with the canapes on arrival and then again for the toast. However also thinking of a jaegerbomb for the toast :-) hehe

Wine on the tables for the meal so everyone has approx half a bottle each.

We bought all our drink on special offer to save money so only have to pay the hotel for corkage (which we are hoping to negotiate) x

We're having 2glasses of wine with the meal, then sparkling for toasts, then tea/coffee. How do we get our guests past the bar to the table first? Will they want to mingle first? Shall I put on my menu card in the invitations that wine will be served with the meal, then a paying bar?

Where are you having your reception? The bar wpjld usually be open on a cash basis for your guests when the arrive even if you have welcome drinks - you also have photos prior to the meal & throughout - your toast master will announce when people have to go into dinner xxx
