i was at another wedding last week, and some of the people we were with said "this is the first wedding I have been at where there wasnt welcome drinks for the evening guests". We were all together at another wedding last February, and they did serve welcome drinks. it was the first time i had ever seen welcome drinks for the evening guests.
so not its got me thinking. I dont want folk b1tching when they get to my wedding that there isnt welcome drinks. What are you all doing?

You'll never please everyone anyway hun so do what you can afford to do and what you think is reasonable. I won't be havig welcome drinks for my evening guests.
CommentAuthorNicsquared
I have also never been to a wedding with welcome drinks for the evening guests!
There are so many people out there who will tell you
what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!
i wudnt do an evening drink, if u have spare money put wine on daytime tables

CommentAuthorLaura4Alex
I have never seen it and most evening guests turn up at different times so you wouldnt know who has had a drink and who hasnt! x

We have welcome drinks with the canapes for day guests, but by the time the evening guests arrive the bar will be open!
CommentAuthorlinzi
already have half a bottle per person on the day tables. Am gonna do it, cause its only gonna cost £200 for 50 glasses of sparkling wine to be laid out. First come first served!

never ever been to a wedding where they did. It couldnt be organised anyways given ppl turn up at different points n you would have to re-issue drinks to day guests too. Some ppl are just cheeky or like to have a good moan. Ive never heard of it and it sounds like the other brides havent either... dont worry about it hun. I am not bothering x

I've never been to a wedding were they give welcome drinks for the guests that are only coming to the evening..
I don't think its expected.. And I think it might be too much hassle as like Suzky said everyone will be turning up at different times and then you have your day guests. xx
CommentAuthorTinsel
Never heard of this, although I did think about putting money behind the bar for the night guests as a thank you, but not sure about the practicality/logistics of that. Some of the day guests might get a free drink lol!

We're having welcome drinks for evening guests because I think they often get the fuzzy end of the lollipop. It'll only cost us a couple of pounds per head but will make people feel a lot more welcome (and give us an excuse for a second drinks reception as they arrive with my friend on the gorgeous grand piano... can you tell I'm excited?).
CommentAuthorStevie_Dee
If you can offer a welcome drink then I think its nice to include the evening guests in the same way as the day guests. We don't have evening guests so can't give you our example. We have the same amount of guests all day.....plus our venue is located in the middle of a vineyard/winery so very little chance of us running out. xx

We did this and it was appreciated. We printed vouchers and put evening guests names on and handed them out when eve guests arrived. One per evening guest which could be exchanged for a glass of wine, pint of beer or soft drink at the bar. We had the vouchers on a tab and picked up the bill next morning. Wouldn't have had glasses on a table as couldn't monitor who had what.

We didn't have them.... never been to a wedding that has xxx

Sod that, spending enough on the venue and food etc they can buy their own!! That's just me being tight though. LOL

I've only been to 1 wedding in where they had welcome drinks for the evening guests and it was lovely. My dad wants to do this at our wedding rather than him standing at the bar all night buying people a drink or leaving said amount behind the bar. I think it's a nice gester but you don't have to do it, it's not something I expect!
10 years together...

We're putting some money behind the bar, so hopefully most guests will get one free drink if not more.
I don't think it's expected though xx

our menu allows us to have 4 drinks for our guests, but the dilemma is if i move cake cutting to evening id have to pay for drinks for everyone. so i may just do this as a nice gesture.
ive never been to a wedding where the evening guests got a drink on arrival...in fact all the recent weddings ive been to esp as a evening guest ive never seen the bride or the groom not even when leaving!!!!!
it would be up to you what ever you feel is right either that put bottles onthe tables for everyone!!!
All the ways of my life id rather be with you.
Theres no way without you.

been to two evening do's and both no welcome drinks , didnt bother me really as also I didnt know of evening do's b4 I went to the first here in england as it isnt usual for germany... :)
CommentAuthorlala "mod" bunni
thing is do your guests have to be there by a certain time to get it or are you going to have people standing there with drinks for an hour plus so that late comers get a drink
we have put 7.30pm on the invites, so I think we will just put out 50 glasses at the front of the venue and first come first served, just have someone next to it saying its for evening guests. We only have 50 people during the day so the staff shouldnt have too big a job noticing new arrivals.
