Stormie you dont even need to save your syns, you can use flexi syns if you have a meal out. Its all about being in control and not depriving yourself. I dont save my syns for nights out, i will enjoy myself, stay in control and even if i go right over board (take new years eve with crisps, dips, sambucca etc..... got right back on plan the following day and still went in and got 1lb loss today. And i didnt deprive myself over xmas either, i just stayed in conrtol, had a little of everything and got back on plan boxing day :D Got a 2lb loss :D

It took me a while to get my head around SW, now its like second nature, me and the H2B are always trying new recipies and he absolutely loves the curries in their curry heaven book. Doing a lot of it off the top of my head at the moment as all my recipie books are packed away from moving house. I have my weigh in tonight and hope to have lost the 4.5 lb i put in at christmas! evil mince pies......

I'm on SW too and have lost almost 3st so far (1 pesky lb away!) got another stone to go.

I absolutely love the SW plan, I think its so easy to follow and like natalie2614 said, after a couple of weeks it was like second nature and now I dont even think about it.

I know you can get quite a few slimming world recipe books in the library (or at least you can in mine!) so it might be worth having a look in there and copying down some recipe ideas.

Don't forget the key to SW though is having 1/3 of your meal in Superfree foods, which is pretty much all fruit and veg except potato and parsnips. All lean meat, poultry without skin and potatoes, eggs, parsnips, pasta and rice are free, and you can snack on these during the day. Sweetener is free as well as well as all spices. Anything else (like fat, sweets, etc) have a syn value and you can have up to 15 of these a day but I tend to stick to 8-10 ish a day instead. Your A & B are basically your dairy and fibre allowance, which you can have according to the book - yesterday I had 2 weetabix and 200ml of semi skimmed milk (you can have 250ml a day, but I kept some back for 2 cups of tea!) with 2 clementines for breakfast - today I had 2 slices of wholemeal toast with mushrooms (superfree) and 45g reduced fat Cheddar - mid morning snack it's 2 clementines, lunch is ham salad with fat free dressing, boiled eggs and a jacket potato, then dinner tonight is spag bol with extra mushrooms and red pepper in the sauce with extra lean mince and galia melon to finish - you should never go hungry on a diet as your body will hold onto the fat as a reserve energy store :-)

You could go to a meeting, get the pack and then leave if you like, but I like the weekly support from the meetings - if you're really not sure, get the magazine from a normal shop and try the recipes and weekly meal plans (although you get it slightly cheaper from the class, you'll have paid a fiver on top to join etc)

    Hope this helps!!

Breakfast for me today was 2 Weetabix made with hot water with a banana and apple, mid morning snack is a WW yogurt and another apple, lunch is boiled ham, tuna, sweetcorn and beetroot (would normally have some savoury rice or a jacket spud with this but its weigh day lol) and havent decided whats for tea yet, wont be getting home till after half 7 so i dont want anything too heavy.

This thread is fab, come back after a few weird shifts at work and this thread is the motivation I need to loose a bit of weight.

We started a fat club at work where we get weighed once a month at the same time on the same shift - 9.30pm on a sunday every 4 weeks. I thought I was going to be heavier but I weighed in at 11st 7lb. My problem is nibbling at work. On a 12 hour shift being stuck most of the time at a desk I tend to trough through a fair bit of grub. I need to take some healthy snacks with me. Or eat stuff before I go that will fill me up.

    I'd like to think if I had a b oo b reduction from my 34j I'd loose a fair bit instantly! ;)
    God luck ladies x

i've started using the My Fitness Plan App on my phone and it tells you what calories you can live off each day. Its great cos you can scan the barcode of whatever you are eating and i haven't found anything so far it can't find and also if you eat 5 mini eggs you can account for it on the app so you know exactly what you have eaten and you can also put on your excersise which then takes the calories you've burned off what you've eaten :-D very helpful, back to zumba and the gym next week and lets hope i can loose the dress size/two dress sizes that i really want to

as a healthy extra a you get 6 slices of laughing cow or say 2 slices of dairylea - goes to show how little calcium is in the laughing cow! If you don't have all 6 you need to top up your calcium from the a list otherwise you're missing out on healthy extras which in the long run won't help you lose the weight!

Oct you should never have to feel hungry on sw.
I usually slip a alpen light bar or a bag of ryvita minis into my bag if i get hungry out and about, 2 alpen lights or 1 bag ryvita minis count as healthy b choice. If i have bread with breakfast then i would snack on fruit through out the day.
All fresh and frozen fruit is free, tinned and dried fruit varies. All veg is free also.
I dont have any of my healthy As ever as i am not a milk or cheese person :( However there are veggies that contain calcium as well such as curly kale and i do make use of the yogurts and fromage frais.
I cooked sw cottage pie for dinner tonight, very satisfying :)

I've never been hungry on slimming world either! as you can have as much as free foods as you like, which is including meat! (i'm vege tho) but my other half loves it, as long as you cut the fat off and cook it in 1 cal spray or a health grill. Also not to try and push vege on anyone but switching some bits to quorn really helps dieting :) alot better for you and less fat, plus tbh you can't tell the difference between quorn mince or meat mince.

Ooh and Oct if you do look on the bay, be careful as they've just launched a new starter pack in the new year with some slightly different measurements for the A and B so I'd rather get one of those than an over version - you can eat a bit more with the latest pack!

If you get sw online you can use something on their website called syns calculator or syns online, where you can search any number of food for syn value and if you cant find it on their data base you can enter in the nutritional information off the packet and calculate the syns that way.
A lot of fat free yogurts are free, but its sometimes worth checking as some have hidden syns.

Wow just caught up on everyone's weigh in's lol... I managed to only gain 1/2 lb (have NO idea how!)

I honestly prefer WW as it controls my portions - which got out of control when I did SW and whenever I fell off the plan I ALWAYS gained and struggled to get it off. With WW I find it's more flexible and liveable...Oct12 - I'm shocked you fell poorly with it. Did you try the filling and healthy day? You're obviously not eating enough hun...keep something to snack on throughout the day. A bag of M&M's is just empty calories and leaves you craving more and not feeling satisfied.

Saying that I'm not teaching grandma to suck eggs and everyone can do whatever suits them. I just find WW easier than SW - mainly because I'm greedy and used to pile my plate ridicously full on SW simply "because I could!" ha.

Makes meals for the whole family really easy and members not go hungry. I have never ever felt hungry since doing sw and have lost every week except 1, where i gained 1lb (that was the week of ryans work xmas do, which was a weekend in a hotel)

Thats what i like about sw and it put me off ww, the idea of portions :( I love the with sw i can pile my plate as high as i like with meat and potatos and pasta and rice etc.... and still loose weight! I guess everyone is different though and so long as we reach our goals in the end thats the main thing :D

Superfree is near enough all fruit and veg either fresh or frozen, so throw a bit of salad with it or mushrooms and grilled tomatoes.
And nice jacket spuds...when you find out let me know! I do mine in the microwave for convenience but theyre never as nice as when you get them somewhere else xx
