I'm planning on going dress shopping after Christmas with my mum however I'm currently losing weight and plan to carry on doing so till about a month before the wedding so my question is...How am I supposed to order a dress when I don't know what size I'm going to be? I don't know if I should order a size too small or order the size I am now and get it adjusted and how much they can adjust them without it looking stupid? I'm in a bit of a mess if I'm honest....HELP! x

How much weight are you hoping to loose? Dresses generally altered to be 2 sizes smaller. I agree with bell and speak to the ladies at the dress shops and see what they advice.

    Good luck! xx

I've got 3 stone 11 to go so I'll be lots smaller when I'm done (I hope!) x

When I went the other week, the lady said when we place the order we wont take the measurements until the last possible minute available to do so. If you are going for a lace up you have a couple of sizes either way, and if zip/buttons all dresses can be taken out so don't worry too much. The lady said as long as I've paid the deposit and at least half the cost by the time the measurements are needed they are fine to wait for then! xx

Oh that's good news Helen! I'm thinking about going for a lace up back so might have to risk ordering a size too small! x

Yea I thought so too.. the one I tried on was a size too small but thats the size i plan on being.. and I just happened to drop that in to the conversation... tempted to ask her what sort of deal she could offer me if i was to buy that one there and then, but feel too cheeky.. Button-bell mines only one dress size down too but it all makes a big difference! I felt amazing in the dress it made my waist look tiny! xx

Dont worry just let the shop know that you are planning to lose weight. When I tried my dress on (well, the sample of the one I'm ordering) it fitted pretty well but I'm ordering the size smaller, the show are aware of that and she says that she's happy with that and it should be doable - I do have to lose 2 inches off my waist but I've got over 18 months yet so I'm not too worried :-) also with lace back ones (mine is) you have a bit more leeway.
