If you want a church wedding see if you can have the reception there as well. Have the ceremony late in the day and skip the wedding breakfast, do a bring and share buffet instead. Make your own favours, centrepieces, invitations, flower arrangements, or find friends who are good at that kind of thing. It may be that you or a friend can even manage a cake or dressmaking. Look at charity shops and sample sales for your wedding dress (some charities have specialist bridal shops). Bridemaids dresses can be bought cheaply on the bay. Put the bridesmaids in floor-length dresses so that they can wear their own shoes. Ask around to see if a friend has a nice car that you can use for transport, or hire a nice car and get a friend or relative to drive.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

Im making my own bouquet, not a fan of flowers so I'm going to make an origami one. With your wedfing cake I bet if you ask friends they would make and decorate cupcakes for you if you buy the ingredients the labour could be therebgift to you. You could then buy a plain iced cake frim a supermarket and decorate it yourself. I am going to go down the route of having a later weddingbthen just serving a buffet. People should be going to celebrate your special day not to eat food.

Was going to say you could buy a plain iced cake from the supermarket and add some ribbon and artificial flowers to pretty it up and have a late ceremony to skip the wedding breakfast as that tends to be a big part of the money x

See if you can hire a local parish hall for your reception, they're normally great value and you can bring your own food which would be much cheaper :)
my invites cost me the price of the paper and the borrow of the FIL2Bs printer.
Im making my own bouquet, and because im making it from paper, its only cost me the price of florist wire, buttons and a glue gun. and a borrowed guillotine. though, the amount of buttons i seem to be going through lol... oh and pearl pins too, but everything can be found cheap on ebay, i got 200 or so i think for a couple of quid.
make your own seating plan, all you need is a large canvas...or a mirror... or photoframes...or whatever you want to use really!
i got my table names from preloved for 25 quid. clapper boards with easles or whatever to put them on and im getting my centre pieces the same way. sale or swap pages on FB can be handy too. that's actually where ive seen some fishbowls for 4 quid each.
As for the venue, village halls are usually very cheap/free. Some pubs do free function rooms to.
get married later, so you don't have to feed people twice, we're getting married at 4pm, having a hot buffet, then about 9:30 10pm we're just having bacon/egg butties handed out.
We're also making our own toasting champagne. SO EASY TO MAKE!!!!! Its just the price of the bottle! (and if you're unlucky, the corkage for the venue too, but even so, its still a cheaper way of having a champagne reception if you want one and/or toasting drinks too!
Wibbly wobbly, timey wimey
*Kelbel* is my wedding twinny!
