I'm not sure if there is already a thread about vows, there probably is but I can not find it Me and my H2B want to write our own vows, I have been married once before and my H2B has been married twice before. We are having a Civil Wedding in Gretna Green, we have booked our Registrar and paid the first installment, and had our confirmation of attendance from him, but no advice or word on our Vows on the day. We don't want to turn up on the day an have no idea what we will be saying to each other, we want our vows to mean something to each other, so we want to write our own words. I am going to ring the registry office and enquire about our vows, I was wondering what you were doing about your vows, are you sticking to the traditional or writing your own? If you are writing your own, are they going to be romantic, humerus or other? Love to hear your views x

I'm thinking of getting us to write our own. With our pack from the registrar, there are the usual ones and they also give you examples of alternative ones. Ideally I'd like them to be romantic but I know when I talk about my feelings I usually end up crying so with it being such an emotional day and everyone watching I'm not sure what to have lol

We will be writing our own, I want them to be mostly romantice with a little splash of humour so that I dont cry x

I think I will ring the Registrar office tomoro as we never got a pack from them, just our confirmation letter. I too am worried about getting upset if we write our own romantic, good idea to have it mixed with a bit of humour. x

I'd like to write my own vows, but not sure that H2b would do this. He can be shy infront of people and I just know for a FACT that if (and when he does) say lovely things about me .... I cry! xx
Became Mrs Robinson 4th October 2012 xxx
Can't wait to do it all over again on the 4th October 2017!!
I wanted to write my own vows but hubby gets really nervous reading aloud, and we both thought trying to remember them under pressure would be a nightmare, so we went with what the registrar told us. I did buy a little book about vows and how to write them which might help you? there are loads of websites that have them on too, you might get some ideas x

We didnt get a pack either because the registrar told ud they are changing and updating all the wedding vows from April so the pack wouldnt be relavant to us as we get married in Sept. We will get one as soon as the new ones are confirmed and printed. We want to add soem humour into ours aswell as thats mine and H2B personality, were always laughing and joking so want that to be part of our vows too. I keep telling him im gonna have him "promise to massage my feet every night for the rest of our lives" written in our vows lol x x x x x

we asked my cousin who is marrying us, during our meeting and hes sent me a mail of the one he uses most of the time. but he has given us many ways of saying it. we can either repeat after him, memorise it and add a few wee things here and there or we can just read from a card he will hold up in front of us. h2b chose the card but i chose the repeat cos its kinda close to tradition. xx
All the ways of my life id rather be with you.
Theres no way without you.

We will be seeing the wedding coordinator 2 weeks before at our registrar to confirm the cerimony arrangements, we are sticking to the bog standard vows as we will be really nervous without making it any worse.

I'd like us to include something of our own but I think a few drafts will be needed to get them sounding non-waffley!

I am getting married in a catholic Church and don't think they accept personalised vows, but I am a very traditionalist person and don't want personalised vows, but I do think it is a really nice idea, and watching movies, tv shows, I can be very moved by them, it just isn't me at all.
Soon to be Mrs Gary Doublé
Everything is now booked
Getting really stressed and excited now
