Just wondering, are there things in your wedding vows that you can ask the priest to change? Like a particular wording? Or is it strictly what you're given and no picking and choosing? I know the example's bad but say in Breaking Dawn Bella had till death do us part changed to something like forever or each day can't remember. x

hmmm not sure about that..i would presume that its the vows that you must read out and since its a CoE wedding probably be very strict on them!! phone them up x

I know people have asked for small changes. If you don't ask, you'll never know.

We've actually taken the signing the register bit out of the service!!

I know you can change the wording slightly for civil ceremonies (as we are altering one or two words) but not sure how it is in churches. I'd assume you can probably make slight adjustments. Oh and the change in Breaking Dawn was to "for as long as we both shall live".

We are doing it after the service while people go outside, so we can make a grand exit.

I recommend doing it- its a lot more logical. Our friends did it and the service flowed a lot better without the gap in the middle.

I have just completed my degree in Theology and had to take a module on church policy & practise and there are only 3 things that you legally need to include. I have written our whole wedding service myself. (1) Legally doors to church must remain unlocked and access given to anyone, hence your notice is given prior to the day and the minister has to ask if anyone knows of any reason you should not be married, You also have to swear that you dont know any reason why you shouldnt marry (2) You have to be asked if you do and say you do to ensure you are not being forced into marraige (3) You have to be pronounced Husband and Wife. Anything else is up to you with the agreement of your minister. Each denomination (religion) has a prescribed or accepted marraige service that you can use but it is not compulsary. Speak to the minister, ask for a copy of the traditional service and then you can follow the outline but put all your own personal bits into it.

We are having a table for signing of the register actually in the church so the guests can watch & take photos and our friend is singing whilst we do it so it becomes part ofthe service reather than we trapse out and leave the guests sitting twiddling thumbs.
