Im getting married in a month and i am sooo confused as to what type of underwear i should be wearing, stockings, bras, thongs, garters?! Please can someone advice me about what they did. Can u buy yourself a garter or should someone else?? Are the stockings slippy in shoes?? Thanks!

Hi, I think a lot depends on your own taste and what you like wearing lol, and the type of dress you've chosen. Your dress will probably determine which sort of bra you need, eg if it's strapless you will need a strapless/multiway bra (or get cups sewn in to your dress), I'd go with whatever Knicks you're most comfy in to be honest, same with the stockings too, if you don't want them don't have them lol. I bought myself a garter as I didn't think anyone would get me one, but my mum decided she wanted to buy me one so I used that one on the day xx

i think its tradition for someone to buy you the garter, I have no idea who though!!!

I guess your dress determines what kind of bra youll need, ie braless/straps. I would have thought if you were to wear stockings maybe to put them on before you and hubby go to the bedroom! as if you have peeptoe shoes you cant wear them throught the day, and id be worried incase they slipped down unles you had a belt holding them up.

god theres so much to think about for a simple question of what underwear to wear :o x

MrsC, good point about the stockings, I wore hold ups and one stayed up because I had a garter on but the othe othe one kept falling down to my knee! I got fed up so I took them off after the wedding breakfast! Xx

Just basic underwear for me. Strapless bra and comfy knickers. Wore my garter (bought it myself)
I would save stockings and any sexy underwear till the night ( if you have time!) or for the morning after. X

My only advice for this is go comfy and save sexy for the night/morning after/honeymoon. It will show on your face if you're not feeling comfortable in what your wearing.

Also I was so hot in my dress and that was early April so if you're a summer bride I'd definitely steer clear from any form of tights or stockings. X

Thank you all for the replies! Some great advice, and i hadnt thought about how warm i might get wearing stockings!! Think i might bring them for the night only and just wear a garter

I bought my own garter.

Underwear-wise, I only wore white lace frenchies. I couldn't wear a bra with my dress and didn't want stockings or anything as I didn't want to get too hot or be uncomfortable.

I borrowed my sister's garter she had for her wedding (was my something borrowed and something blue).

For undies I just went for a gorgeous lace French knickers and bra set. So comfortable but also really pretty. Love that set.

i bought my own garter, i wanted one with blue on it so best way to get what you want is buy it yourself! and i agree with above about underwear, dress will determine bra, personally i dont find thongs very comfortable and i know i want to be comfy on my wedding day so i'll probably go for some short style briefs for ultimate comfort!

My mum got me a garter then I got one as a gift from OH on the morning of the wedding. Ended up taking it off before the evening reception though as it started to drive me crazy.

Definitely wear something comfortable as you're in it for a long time and you need to be comfortable rather than sexy. You can change into something later like the others have already said.

definitly after thinking about all these comments the comfy undies are the way to go, maybe you could sneak hubby to be upstairs and have your sexy undies in a box and show him and tell him thats what your gonna be wearing later!! x

We are getting married in November - so was thinking (for a joke) of wearing my motorbike thermals under my dress. (might put them on just after the service.) My friends all know me as always being cold - so think it might make for a good jokey photo.

Our photographer is a close friend and also a biker, and so would also see the funny side of it.

As for the rest of the underwear - I guess I will just go for whatever feels the most comfortable. I will also take advise from the ladies at the bridal shop.
