I spoke to a jewellery valuer today who mentioned that there are certain stores online (he didn't name them) who supply valuations with their items which do not match up to the items in terms of quality. A previous customer had been back to the company after a disappointing independant valuation asking for the item to be repleaced with one of the stated quality and was basically told that the company could not afford to do so! Luckily my ring was as sold, and worth more than we paid as we got it in Dubai.
I bought from a company that is in the jewellery quarter in brum but also has an online store. Their rings are lovely and pretty reasonable, not sure if I'd buy from an online only store though

just be careful buying online they can be cheaper but also sell you rings that are poor quality xx
