It is lovely. Especially when you have a blank wall. It is so personal and helps you protect those things that you want to keep as well. For the wedding you could make add a few of your flowers, with your garter (if you are having one... never really thought of one of those, dont think I like the idea much!), maybe a photo and something from the morning before the ceremony. I have also seen ideas where someone has left a glass jar out and collected the rain from their wedding and kept it. I always thought that it would go off though? It sounds odd but over the years wouldn't it become cloudy and a bit discoloured? x
CommentAuthorFlossie
That does sound odd about the rain haha I don't think I would even think about doing that.. but each to their own!!
I'm not sure if I'm having a garter either. I don't really get the point and think it would just be annoying on the day sliding down your leg and stuff! Lovely idea though, I will definitely think about that! Lovely way to remember the day x

I know. Don't think I will be doing the rain idea and not sure about the whole garter thing. Doesn't tradition say if you wear a garter your h2b has to bite it off your leg or something in front of the wedding guests? That would be a bit embarrassing and cringey for me! I could not do that at all. And like you said, it would be annoying if it kept sliding down x
Ohhhh my goodness.. I have just found THE most beautiful pair of shoes. I think I am in love.. They were £210 now reduced to £99, but they have been discontinued so there aren't that many more pairs around and I have only found my size on one website. I am sooo tempted to order them, but is it complete madness when I don't even get married until June 2016 and I don't have a dress yet? Does it matter? I want a long dress anyway so no one would really see them.. I'm sure they would go fab with any dress I chose ;) ahhhhh xx

Thinking I might buy them.. It's my birthday in 3 weeks so will put the money I get for my birthday towards them. It really is a bargain and they are beautiful.. If it turns out that they don't go with the dress I end up choosing then I'm sure I will have no problems selling them on again, especially as they have been discontinued.. What are people's thoughts? xx

Buy them!!
You can take them with you to find your dress and the heigh can be taken into consideration when you have your measurements taken.
It sounds like you have found "the ones!"

I went for it.. thank you ladies!! My mum said if I really wanted them she would get them for me for my birthday.. yay! :) I have added a pic to my albums if anyone wants a sneaky little peek..
Yeah that's true, Carrie. Tbh they are like I imagine my dress to be at the mo (I know my idea of my perfect dress may change once I put them on), but I imagine wearing something with lace and bits of pearly/beady detailing. There are a few Maggie ones I have seen that I love, and I think these shoes would go with them.
How exciting!!! With over £100 off the RRP it really would have been rude not to.. xx

Thank you Mrs M :)
I'm a little bit anxious now.. I have just had a call from the place I've ordered them from. They are actually the pair that were on the shop floor so she said they are showing 'small signs of wear'. I could tell she was going to say something like that when she started off telling me how gorgeous and beautiful they are lol.. She said she will send them out to me and if I'm not happy with them then I can just send them back.. but if I do love them and still want to keep them then I can phone back and we can discuss refunding some money back to me.
I feel a little bit gutted now :( oh maaaaaaan xx

I was excited, Jessica.. until I got the phone call! But yeah, fingers crossed! I can deal with a little bit of wear, especially if it's more inner wear, but if any of the pearls/beads are damaged or missing then they would just look rubbish. We will see! Hate waiting!! xx

I don't see why he can't see your shoes but if you want to keep them as a surprise then do. My OH has seen the hair piece I've chosen as I tried it on at the national wedding show when he was with me. The only things OH wont see are my dress and veil x

Had an email from RMail to say my shoes have been delivered!! There is no one home today so I hope they have left them in our side cupboard and not given them to a neighbour.. Thinking of popping home at lunch time to have a peak.. eeeeeek. I feel really nervous now.. I hope they are ok and not too 'worn' :( x

Good news guys, they are stunning! I am soooo pleased. I probably wouldn't have even noticed they had been on the shop floor if the lady hadn't said.. they are beautiful! I think there's possibly one little string of pearls missing on the front detailing, but unless you looked reallllly closely you wouldn't notice. I have added a few pics to my albums if anyone wants to have a look :)
She said if I wanted to keep them then I should get in contact with them and they will arrange refunding some money back to me. I have dropped them an email, just waiting for a response.. How much money back do you ladies think it would be fair to settle for? Considering they were already £99 down from £210 xx

Aww they are gorgeous Flossie! Very vintage! No wonder you are so pleased with them. And now you have your shoes to take with you when you try dresses on. I think they would look lovely with a lace dress. I would suggest to let them give you a set price off before you say anything to them as if you say a price then it might be less than what they are thinking. If they say anything less than £20 though I would try and push it a bit more. But they really were a bargain price! Well done! :) xx
CommentAuthorFlossie
Thanks Jessica :) I have left the ball in their court for the time being, have asked them how much they would be willing to refund me.. I was thinking I would be happy with £15 but £20 would be a bonus. To be honest I wasn't expecting any extra discount - they could have not even said and I probably wouldn't have been any the wiser! Great customer service though xx

Yeah definitely great customer service! :) I bet most other places would just try and pass them off as brand new. Whatever you are happy with for a refund then just stick to your guns. I am sure they will be more than happy to give you £15-20 off the price as most people would probably demand them to be half price again! Hopefully you will hear back from them soon :) xx

I think you should try for 20% mention the lace missing on the front. But if they say no, buy them anyway!
CommentAuthorFlossie
Yes you're right. I have emailed back saying I was hoping for around 20% due to them not only showing general signs of wear but also due to some of the pearl detailing missing on the front. Will see what they say - have nothing to lose. I have already paid for them so anything back now really is a bonus lol xx

CommentAuthorFlossie
Thanks ladies :) excellent customer service, really impressed with them! You'd think over £100 off would be enough anyway, but to then get an extra 20% off is amazing!
Not sure really.. I have keys/locks and stickers for our sweetie favour jars. I have asked my auntie to keep by any empty baby food jars so I can use them instead of buying them, not sure how many she has managed to keep by at the mo. But will be buying some twine and material covers soon for those.
Been looking around at invitations as well. I messaged a company a good few weeks ago now that we saw at the national wedding show and still haven't had a response :/ I knew they would probably be inundated with messages after the show so was willing to wait but might chase that up now!! xx

Definitely! That is what I am doing Flossie, I am saving up, and getting family to as well, glass jars from jams and drinks and stuff, anything with odd shapes too and I have twine in the house which I originally bought to decorate wedding things but have been using around the house to hang photo frames up. I actually decorated a large floor vase with some so that it wasn't just plain and boring. It took me the best part of about two hours to do it and I used up quite a large amount of the twine doing so and then a couple of days later my daughter knocked the vase over and smashed it so I had to throw it all out :( I could have cried! Haha. But that is a great idea. It saves you money and personally I think it looks better. It has that personal touch to it and I think you will see a greater result at the end of it as opposed to buying stuff in already like that or paying people to do it for you. Also, I would definitely chase up the email you sent as they may think that by replying now the discount or whatever they would have given you from booking because of the wedding show may be a bit redundant. Just explain that you were really looking forward to hearing from them straight away when you sent your last email just after the show and that you were thinking of booking them to do whatever. Hopefully they will get back to you! xx
CommentAuthorFlossie
Yeah it's definitely better to do it that way :) I'm not much of a crafty person but I will give it a good go! I know the jars will turn out great :) but if I was to make my own invitations and stationary I don't think they would come out so good.. haha. Oh no about your vase, what a shame!! Bet you were gutted!
I'm not sure they were even offering discount, I can't remember! We didn't look too closely but there was one invitation that we just loved, so just want to know how much we would be looking at for that one. If it's too pricey I will just show someone else the picture and ask them if they could reproduce something similar! xx

Thats a good idea. Luckily I have a lot of crafty people in my family and in h2b's family and I dabble a little bit trying to experiment and see if I can do something nice. Im not amazing but I can do some really nice things. I think FMIL is actually going to make the invitations for us. Not 100% sure on that and need to clear it up with her before it causes a lot of confusion. H2b has warned me and said I need to make it clear with her exactly what I want her to do otherwise she will just think she is doing everything, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it just means I won't be able to do anything and it might not turn out how I want it. I hope they get in touch with you and they aren't too pricey though! xx
