Hi everyone - we got engaged on Christmas Day and have set a wedding date of 18th October this year! Obviously time is of the essence and as we had minimal savings - we're on quite a stict budget.
We're getting married at the registry office as it's £180 as opposed to the registrar going to our chosen hotel (which would have been £430).
We're having a late wedding (5.30pm) and missing out the wedding breakfast - going straight into evening do with buffet.
We're not hiring a photographer - the future MIL is quite handy with a camera and I want our guests to take as many photo's as possible - that way it's A. free and B. the photo's will be very natural and unstaged (which is what we both want)
I've just bought my dress on Ebay - a Rosetta Nicolini dress, perfect condition for £100!!
Any tips or other money saving idea's would be very gratefully received!!

Instead of hiring a DJ, set up a laptop with a track list.
    Make your own invites
Ask for someone to take you in a nice car, rather than hiring one
Just do as much as possible yourself. I am on a budget, too, but so far I am doing quite well. I love bargains, though and don't mind shopping around.

Definitely getting favours from friends and family is a great one. I have saved money at the moment with:
    - Getting my H2B's mum and her partner is make the wedding cake and we pay for ingredients. If they choose not too, then the chef from work said he will do it instead.
    - I have been pencilled in for a photographer for £675 but one of my friends said if I choose to not have that she can do my photos for me, I just have to pay for petrol money for her to get down and for the prints
    - One of my bridesmaids is doing my make up and hair
    - Another friend is a cake maker also, but she is going to do my cupcake wedding favours for a cut down price.
So getting favours from friends and family really do help. You could save anything from £1000-£2000 :) x

Thanks everyone - some great idea's there. Suprising where you can save isn't it! Bren and I have both agreed that the marriage itself (and a nice break when we go on honeymoon) are the most important things. Although we want the day to be special - the very fact we're getting married makes it special enough xx

Rings can be bought cheaply from arg..s, haggle down high street jewellers or pawn shops can order them in for you if you know what you want
I bought informal invites for 1.79 in packs 10 from the high street too
The bay is pretty good for accessories
Watch the sales for thank you gifts and join cash back sites for more savings
