Has anyone else out there chosen a set menu or am I the only one making all my guests eat the same thing?????? To add more options it is about £600 per course and we just can't afford it. I feel like we're being really cheap not giving guests a choice. Anyone else had this drama??? xx

We are having a set menus, yes I am being cheap but I can't afford the additional fee to gie each person a option. If they don't like the food they don't have to eat it, I won't be offended. X

The only issue you may have is if you have a veggie guest, luckily I'm getting married at a hotel and I will let my guests know before what the menus is. I think I have one veggie attending and I will happily pay for a veggie meal from the bar for him( to be served with the breakfast) as they have said I can do that. X

We're having a set menu as well, as don't want to pay the extra to give a choice

Mrs Hurren they won't charge extra to put a veggie option on as well as they have to provide for dietary requirements, but your guests will have to let you know when they R.S.V.P what their requirements are.

We will be having a set menu too. It's just too expensive not too, if u ask the hotel your are having a your wedding at they should have a alternative meal for veggies, they should also cater for any one that has dietary requirements e.g wheet and glutin free for no extra cost. Hope this helps! :). X

    Yes we have set menu
we have cherry tomato and red pepper soup, steak pie and sticky toffee pudding with a risotto for the 2 veggies
Then bacon rolls and wedding cake at night buffet but they want £3 per person (so x108) for tea and coffee with this even though our package was for stovies and the bacon rolls with tea and coffee are still cheaper so we are saving them money

We gave them the same unless they were vegetarians, then we chose a dish for them. Everyone had the same starter and dessert. The main was a cold meat/quiche/salmon buffet, but was not like the usual buffet, it was all served to you.

Ours is also a set menu. Choice of about 6-8 starters, mains and desserts and we just choose the same one for everybody

Our venue package is a bit different and is £3100 for 50 guests, breakfast and buffet, then extra heads £45pp or buffet £12pp, so not even asked how it would work out for extra choices

Hi....our venue is a local restaurant wine/cocktail bar and they are giving us a choice of 3 starters 3 mains and 3 desserts for £20pp. We have 60 for the wedding breakfast so that's great value for us! We are sending the menu choices out with the invites so that guests can decide and send them back as the RSVP.

Thank you so much everyone. We're getting married on 12th April with menu tasting on Thursday to make sure we're happy with our choices. We only had one vegetarian but she's not had to cancel but I was told any vegetarians can easily be given an alternative. The cost of it all just gets frightening sometimes but we're nearly there and it'll all be worth it. xxx

We had a set menu and a separate one for veggies. Although at the tasting I expressed how much I loved the one of the soups (the one we weren't picking) and they did a separate one all for me on the day!

Im not having a set menu its a choice of 3 from each course on the day (It was a big thing to us and ultimately why we decided to go with the venue) However my sister and her H2B are as far as im aware only having a set meal, for themto get an extra choice is about £20 per head and its ridiculous.

We don't have a set menu, we have been able to offer choices and have had to collect those choices with our RSVP's. We have not been charged extra for this, had we been informed that offering choices was extra we would have gone with a set menu.

All Weddings I have been to, it has always been a set menu so I wouldn't worry about it.

We are having a set menu but will publish it on our wedding website so people know what to expect. We can have a veggie option if needed but tbh with us having canapes, a 3 course meal, coffee and french fancies and then sausage/ bacon butties/ potato wedges and wedding cake- if they dont like one part its just tough.

In my experience (working in a hotel) very few weddings have a choice menu, simply becaus of the additional cost, the only variants to the menu are for vegetarians or special dietary requirements (gluten, dairy allergy etc) x

We have 2 choices for each course, one is the vegetarian option, it's so hard to make a choice from the menu options though. Is anyone else struggling with this? X

It's pretty standard for there to only be one option; however one way around it can be asking what the veggie options are and printing those on the menu (if the venue will allow it).

We've been really lucky with our venue and provided they know the choices beforehand we're allowed to give our guests a choice, so we have 3 starters, 4 mains, and 3 desserts for guests to choose from as well as a selection of drinks. From what I've seen though that's quite unusual and our guests have been quite surprised to have a choice.
