As we cannot afford to have live music playing throughout the meal we have decided to have instrumental versions of songs playing through the PA systems for some backround noise. I have a list of about 20 songs already but im now stuck. Can you ladies think of any songs that would be suitable? It doesnt matter if you dont know the instrumental version as i can always have a look to see if there is one.

    Thanks !!!

sorry my internet was down last night - these are the songs i have already thought of:

    Have I told You Lately?
    Kiss from a Rose
    I don’t know much
    You are so beautiful
    Hero
    Brown eyed girl
    Everything I do
    I swear
    Your song
    She will be loved
    She’s the one
    Far away
    Here without you
    Wherever you will go
    I’m yours

    any more suggestions?

What about some Glenn Miller? Moonlight Serenade is going to be my first dance I think.

We are having some nice jazz and soul music if that helps. Sam Cooke - Cupid and A Change Is Gonna Come, Ella Fitzgerald - Misty, Someone To Watch Over Me (there are LOOOADDS of hers), Sarah Vaughn - Tenderley, Nat King Cole - A Nightengale Sang in Berkley Square. I am walking down the aisle to La Vie En Rose by Louis Armstrong.

If you like this kind of music, let me know and I can come up with LOADS of songs but I know its not everyones taste. I cant wait to arrange the music for our day because I finally get to choose the songs lol.

awww I think I'll probably end up crying just because of the emotion of everything on the day - without the help of any background music lol

Petra - yes we love old jazz music so any suggestions you have would be great :D

my OH isnt fussed about the backround music and doesnt think anybody wil be listening to it as they will be eating/talking but i think it would be nice just to have something that will fill any silences in conversation.

No most people dont bother as they think everyone will be busy eating and drinking. I just want music for when the guests arrive at the reception venue simply for backround music, but then thought why dont i carry it on throughout dinner. my mum got married last year and she never had anything and her day was perfect.

Its a completly personal preference hun xx

Heeey, Here are some songs I've come up with, I forgot my ipod so these are off the top of my head. Some of them may not be to your taste but hope these help :-)

    Les Paul and Mary Ford:

    Vaya Con Dios
    How High The Moon
    I’m A Fool to Care
    Tiger Rag
    Mockin’ Bird Hill
I’m Sitting on Top Of the World

    Sam Cooke:

    You Send Me
    Cupid
    A Change is Gonna Come
    Only Sixteen
    Wonderful World

    Ella Fitzgerald:

    Every Time We Say Goodbye
    Lets Fall In Love
    A Fine Romance
I Get A Kick Out Of You
    Embraceable you
    Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered

    Nat King Cole:

    Let There Be Love
    When I fall in Love
    Mona Lisa
    Unforgettable
A Nightingale Sang On Berkley Square
    The More I see you

    Dinah Washington:

    Mad About The Boy
What A Difference A day Makes
Is You Is Or Is You Aint My Baby
Our Love Is Here To Stay

    Louis Armstrong:

La Vie En Rose (I’m walking down the aisle to this)
    Moon River
    What A Wonderful World

    The Carpenters:

    Yesterday Once More
    We’ve Only Just Begun
    Close To You

If you are into jazz then you might enjoy Bird and Miles - Yardbird Suite. If you like that let me know, it might be a bit hectic for you though lol

As we have a string quartet and a band we can't really afford live music for the wedding breakfast too so I have bought a cd called Simply piano moods, It has some of the songs mentioned above and I highly recommend it, also it only cost £5.00 for 4 CDs xx

Has any of you planned anything about this, as I doubt I DJ will be already settled during meal, and my string quartet could not stay longer than they already are, so I am not sure what to do about music during the sit down meal
