H2b has said that with our debt consolidation loan we can add to it to make money for the wedding. we still would do it as cheaply as we could though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The loan is with his bank, and they know what we would use the money for etc, i am still feeling a little dubias about the idea though. by the way we arent in huge debt, its just as we have more than 5 people to pay each month we are just making it into 1. What do you reckon? xxxx

TBH I don't think weddings are worth getting into debt for. I would just take out the minimum you need.

If u definately think u can afford everything u need for the wedding then take it out as a last resort.
We've got a joint loan and we're thinking of gettin 1k added to it just incase we havent got enuff for spending money for our honeymoon but we're only going to do that as a last resort we think!

Martin lewis gives the best advice, check his site. I think consolidation loans do cut down the interest. I would leave it until the last minute to add any extra on just to cover any shortfalls, you may be able to save the full amount and may get help from family members x

the thing is H2b doesnt care how me get married but would love to do it sooner. he is looking at taking the loan out, we can afford repayments as have ahd previous loans and been able to afford them, and then moving forward next year. we have had to put the wedding back so many times he is thinking if we do it like this then at least we can actually do it this time xxx

Sometimes a debt consolidation loan is not the best way forward - although you might be paying less each month, you could end up paying back a lot more, as you pay over a longer period of time.

You should look very hard at whether the loan is cheaper in the long run - if it isn't, and you can currently afford the repayments, why would you pay more for the same thing? Is five payments out a month so much more difficult than just one?

instead of going down the loan route, have you thought about going to a consolidation company? they lower your monthly payments and pay all your creditors for you, which gives you piece of mind and abit more cash. i pay £240 a month and still have cash left over for everyday things and saving towards the wedding...but im paying a bit more as i want my debt gone quicker! it all depends on how much you owe to how much you would need to pay. x

I have been in the position to have to consilidate my loans before after my Ex husband left me in debt.I think that it is a good idea as it often lowers the interest rate quite a bit. If you can afford to pay the extra bit for your wedding then why not. You culd end up saving loads on your loans by consilidating and if it means you can get married sooner then why not.

I'm not qualified to give financial advice but I do work in this sector lol, you could (if you haven't already) write a budget plan of all your outgoing and ingoings, work out how much better off a month you will be if you consolidate the debt, then how much more it will cost to add to the loan for the wedding. If it still means you won't be any better off then probably not worth the hassle x
