Ok I have a confession and it's something I didn't realise I was doing. Ive got a jealousy of other brides! A few of my fb friends are lso planning weddings, but when they post stuff on their page, I feel a little jealous, like I'm the only one allowed to be getting married, lol. My wee cousin has just booked to be married in 2014 and I feel like people might be more excited about hers or looking at my wedding and thinking hers will b better. Does that make sense? Does anyone else feel this way or is it just me!!

Im luck as most of my friends are already married or are never going to get married (if they do i may fall over with shock) but I can see what you mean. Its a special time for you, but everyones wedding is different. No matter where your cousin gets married or how she does it your day will be special to you and her day will be special to her. As long as you enjoy your day and you have fun what does it matter what others think.

Tho I have to admit one of my friends got married not that long ago and it was lovely, but i couldnt help myself when i got home thinking 'well at least my venus looks nicer' :P

Why don't you talk to your friends about your wedding, quite a few of my friends are getting married soon and we sit down and talk together about our weddings and share ideas and wheres good to shop. I find it really helpful and am able to discuss it with some one who is interested as they are planning the same kind of thing. But both your weddings will be special to you both as has already been said as they are your weddings x x

I think Amy is right, it may be a good idea to chat to a couple of these girls and see what they're doing and talk about the problems they're having and generally just have a good old gossip. I thread eyebrows, and whenever I spot an engagement ring without a wedding ring I switch into wedding mode, it's really good to talk about it.

As for comparing it, I guess it's human nature, but that doesn't mean that people will think anybody else's is better, just different. I set out from the start to make my wedding 'different'. I didn't plan my wedding to compete with anybody else, we just planned a day that was right for us, to hell with everybody else.

I feel like that i dunno why though.... i think its cause you wait your whole life for this special day and the focus is all meant to be on you... so when someone else announces theres it almost like... you could have waited till mine was over lol x

I definitely think comparing weddings is human nature. Especially when there are wedding programmes on tv all the time where the aim seems to be to judge other people's choices and tastes!

I am worried people will be critiquing my wedding. But at the same time I've found myself saying 'well so and so's flowers weren't what I'd have had....' and 'I thought X should have had a tiara or something in her hair' etc etc. It's not being nasty or b*tchy, just inevitable I think to compare.

I was a bit jealous of friends of ours who got married last year in an amazing venue with mega posh food etc, but actually the atmosphere just wasn't there. I think ours will be really fun and more personal even if it's not as flashy.

Sure yours will shine in its own right :-)

i know for a fact our wedding will be compared to my OH's brothers wedding that was 3 years ago as its human nature but everyone has there own opinions on weddings thats why we all have different centrepieces and bridesmaids dresses. In the words of Fleetwood Mac "Go your own waaaaaaay!!!"

U need to watch that episode of dont tell the bride were the sister who is on the show to b married is worried sick her sisters wedding will be better as it was not far from hers, they worry about flowers being better then each others venues etc... But in the end it just goes to show its the love u have for each other that comes though the most in the end. What i do think i bad is if a close family member decides to annonce they are getting married 4 months before you at the same church same venue same ideas, Which is what happened to me and my partner, His sister did this i dont think she had any bad intentions, But the mil is paying for it all and had a say in the venue and knew my ideas and within a week of knowing she booked it all and commented to us our was a budget wedding as it was on a fri and her daughter would not be settling for that(budget wedding), luckily for us we know what my mil is like she is horrible to us lol.(Must b 1 step ahead of her lol) So when we told the family our plans we made sure we paid no deposits and just pro booked, Then within that week of her booking our church venue candy bar etc, We threw our planner out and started again and had a new venue within a day soooo exciting lol, One things for sure no one will be told we booked until after his sis wedding lol. I had a feeling his mum would do something like this as when my oh's bro got married a while ago she gave my sil such a hard time, I used to find her crying her eyes out cause the mil would say to her wait until my daughter gets married it will b the best of everything just rubbing things in day after day(She had a REAL small budget). So anyway me and my oh now laugh cause we will b going to this wedding soon and it was ment to b ours imagine that lol. As we know how much we love each other we will have a great time. If u make yours what u want it u will be happy regardless of what others have. And they do say ur own wedding is always the best to u no matter what, Good luck happy planningxxx

I think I would have had this problem myself if we were still getting married next year haha, theres 3 couple we know all getting married next year, though one of them got engaged when we did, so whether they do or not, remains to be seen, if its just us in 2014, all will be dandy, if its not, I can see both me and H2B getting abit completetive haha!

I think every girl gets like this, its human nature. Im going to a wedding tomorrow that, and the reception venue is the same as mine. I cant help thinking, this will give me an idea of how they set it out so I can plan mine better. Its not being horrible, just think its natural. I'll be careful not to talk about my plans on the day though, I dont want the bride finding out I was planning mine on her big day, that wouldnt be fair!

H2B's sister and his cousin are both getting married in 2014 (not to each other lol) and his sister goes on about her wedding constantly and it's 2 years away, mine is 7 months away and I do get a bit put out when she gets loads of attention about her wedding. She got engaged 2 months after us and she's the one who proposed. I feel like she only did it cause she didn't want to be the only sibling not married. She always asks me about my wedding too but I don't want to reveal every aspect of my wedding to her! She's even bought us stuff for our wedding without asking us which is a bit weird.

Just gotta suck it up though I suppose!

I'm not so much comparing weddings as mine is going to be different colours, theme, etc to all the recent weddings I've been to but I did update my fb status a couple of weeks ago after my friends wedding saying "The next wedding I attend will be my own, congratulations to any of my friends that get engaged before my wedding but if you choose to marry before me then I will not be involved in any celebrations until after my wedding. I've watched too many people get married before me and IT'S MY TURN NEXT!!! Raaaaaggggghhh" Obviously I was joking and my friends found it hilarious but there is a part of me deep down inside that will blow my flippin top if any of these Johnny come lately engagements result in a wedding before mine. I also kind of convinced an aquaintance not to have her wedding in November. She got engaged last month and wanted to get married asap, she was talking to me about what needs to be done and I listed tons of things that I've already done and tons that still need to be done and she decided to leave it til next year to give her time to plan and save. I didn't mean to put her off and I've probably done her a favour but I did feel bad.

    I can't wait until 29/06/2013

I got engaged last Sept and am getting married in two weeks. A friend in work got engaged at xmas and got married last sat. We aren't best mates so not an issue of upstaging or anything. But I did feel a little bit bitter because after xmas my countdowns became 'ooh so that's 21 more days than me then...' etc etc. grr.

Haha silly really because now her day's over, she's jealous that I still have it to come :-) Us women eh!?

Jesus £20k! How can they spend that....

I went to a wedding last year at a hotel, they managed to spend £25k on their day, I dont think it was worth it at all. It was lovely dont get me wrong, but not worth that amount of debt.

Hahaha! Shirlygirly, i love your post!

My sister got married last october, six months ago there were three babies amongst the sibblings, now they're all married of i'm like MY TURN!! haha! I have no children and i'm 31 so i have to get a move on before my eggs dry up but want to be married first. My siblings are all married off and have each said they're not having kids so now i can have all the attention for once lol!

...unless oh sister gets engaged - she'd have to find herself a partner first so i guess for now i have nothing to worry about. Think we're all secretly like this though! xx
