The dream wedding was slowly turning into a nightmare, so we have cancelled! We have lost the deposit but feel like a huge weight has been lifted off us. We have spent 2 very intense days of talks....NATO has nothing on us! We have agreed a resolution to marry somewhere in Europe, and in a flash of divine intervention my Uncle rang Tuesday night. He lives in Pathos in Cyprus. He rang as he does several times a year to see how everyone is. We spoke regarding cancelling our wedding and after a lengthy, and expensive phone call, Steve and I are thrilled, excited and a little shell shocked to say we are now getting married in Cyprus, May 2012!

Yesterday we looked into prices and worked out that we can do exactly what we want for a fraction of the price it was costing us here and its even cheaper than our ideas of Slovenia, Italy or Austria. Steve is now wanting to be hugely involved and has been scouring brochures for HIS dream ceremony location with sea views behind, which is the best feeling. My Uncle is a landscape gardener in Pathos and knows everyone! He's going to sort out a carriage for us, which he said will be his gift to us, and he and his girlfriend will help us organise anything we need. We have spoke to family, we have 10 people already confirmed, plus the 4 of us, that definately want to come at their own expense, so it feels like people are finally interested. My mum and Steve's parents are definately coming which was the main thing and my Mil2b genuinely sounded happy for us. The only scary thing now is I have to start from scratch. We are looking at the week of Steve's 40th birthday so we can have the wedding hopefully around the 16th and his 40th birthday party on the 19th May.

So glad its all worked out for you! Sounds as though you are going to have a perfect wedding! Shame about the deposit though... was it for the venue you originally booked or something else? If it was the venue could you negotiate having a small engagement type party instead so you get some benefit of the money? Just a thought...
