Etiquette says between 2 and 4 months
but you could always send out Save The Dates just now if you really wanna get the ball rolling

think it depends. We are going to send out save the dates about 10mnths before hand to day guests only. Then we are going to send out our evening invites with 7 months to go and then our proper day invites with 4 months to go.
just so folk dont book a holiday in September and cant come!

Hi Tamzen,
Traditionally invitations were posted 6/8 weeks before the wedding. Today most brides post them between 3/4 months before. This allows for replies and enables a second wave to be sent if required without them feeling on the B list.

normal 8-12 weeks b4 i think xx
soon to be Mrs Berry 26.11.2011

We are sending save the date magnets soon (just waiting for them to arrive!) then we are thinking December for the actual invitations. Though with Xmas people might forget to reply. However, they could put their reply in with their Christmas cards and save on a stamp!

We sent save the dates just over a year before the date. Our invites are going out mid-late April next year, we're having a DIY reception so we need to get numbers confirmed at latest 3 weeks before the big day xxx

CommentAuthorMrs Turps (Nicpep)
I did mine 5 months before and in hindsight that was way too early! A friend of mine said the same. If I did it again, I'd got for 3 months I think

Ooh, just found this thread-very helpful thank you. I was wondering when to send out our invites. As we are getting married in June, I think maybe we will send the invites out around February time......hopefully that will give people plenty of time and it won't be too early either lol. Does that sound ok to people??
CommentAuthorsouthern
Mine will start going out this coming week, for a Feb wedding
CommentAuthorlaurabrown83
Yep Katkin that sounds about right, my wedding is mid-august, think i'll send mine out around easter time. I already sent save the dates out a couple of months ago.
CommentAuthorXLittleMissMe!X
I think it depends on when I get a wiggle on and make them to when our guests get them lol
CommentAuthorsouthern
jo - they take longer than you think! lol
CommentAuthorKatkin
Thanks Laura xx
CommentAuthorXLittleMissMe!X
Yeah I can imagine they do. I've got all the butterflies cut out as I had to take the cutter back to the shop ;) I've also got the personailsed ribbon cut so its a case of sticking them all together and then printing the inserts. I'm going to type the guests names and print each one so I don't have to hand write them. Its a good job the h2b is on hand to help out and we only have 60 guests of which most are couples and families so we only need 25 invites, 25 thank yous but then 60 order of service etc.
I'm also going to make a menu card and rsvp for the guests to confirm that everything is OK.

CommentAuthorYourFirstDanceBride
Our wedding is the first weekend in June so I am giving some out over christmas to family that I might not see before then, then generally giving them to people as I see them, but work people (evening do only) I am waitin until a bit nearer the time, as with government cuts I don't know who will still be there and therefore who I will still see!
