    Hello everyone :-)

I'm a newbie to all this so apologies if this doesn't post correctly!

Me and my Fiance have recently booked our wedding for May 2015 :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

I was just wondering if anyone can give me some advice on wedding insurance? I have a few questions!

    Should we get insurance!?
    How much is it? (Roughly)
Do you insure up to a certain amount? or just for your wedding as whole (if that makes sense!)
When is it best to get insurance? Wedding isn't for 21 months so is it too early?
What/Who are the best company to use? (We live in the Bournemouth area)

Thanks in advance for your help

    Kelly XxXx

Hi Kelly - we get married in May 2015 as well. We have taken out insurance - £28 in total for really good cover. You can take it out up to 2 years prior to ur wedding n it covers everything you book after that point. Some of our friends didn't bother but we thought the price was so minimal it was worth it. Hope this helps x

Yeah hopefully ours will be in May 2015 (12th) if possible.

Yes - get insurance; especially if are having a destination wedding

Price - Depends who you go with (£15 -£40) I'll put some names on your wall.

Most companies offer different sections; you pay more for the higher amount they insure you against; for instance basic could be up to £10k and intermediate -£15k e.t.c

Most companies offer insurance a year or two in advance

Best Company - Put some on your wall.

GET IT!!! It's better to pay the money and have peace of mind. We paid around £28 for ours. It covered our wedding abroad as well as the reception back here a month later.
Get it to cover the whole cost of your wedding and you should get it as soon as possible as if there is a problem with the venue you may not be covered as you booked it before the insurance was purchased. Insurance companies will do anything they can to try and get out paying out on a claim - I know, I used to work for a couple!

There's an official thread on insurance, so I'll bump that for you as it has some suggestions on there x

We had to pay a bit more than the above, higher value wedding plus the fact we're in jobs (military) where the likelihood of cancelling increases (although unlikely still!) and we wanted it to cover all our swords for the day too.

Just always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS check all the small print and exclusions etc so you understand what you are and are not covered for.

Definitely get insurance! It's for peace of mind.
As soon as you start booking and paying deposits you should have insurance to cover it. Most insurance companies will insurance weddings based on how much you say you will be spending. We got ours through j0hn l3w!5. Paid I think was £125 ish but we did have a generous budget for the whole wedding. Shop around xxx

Hi, I am a Insurance Manager and a bride to be and wold suggest its a must - ours cost £26 for £15,000 cover which was fine for the costs of our day. In this economic climate a lot of independent suppliers / venues are feeling the financial burden and you just never know what will happen , gives us some piece of mind x

Thanks so much for all your help ladies :-)
I'm glad I'm not the only one getting excited and planning already even though we have a while yet! Its all very exciting Hehe! :-)

I will defiantly look into it now! We have booked the church and our venue and already paid a £500 deposit so will that make a difference when getting insurance, can anyone recommend one that covers for deposits already paid? Xx

I think most of them cover deposits already paid, and they should say on their 'key facts' page that all insurance polices need to have now a days to try and make finding the right one easier ! some have a limit on the deposits , I..e will cover all deposits under £1000 so I would look out for that :) x
