Ok so my wedding is approaching (3 weeks to go!) and I'll be doing my own hair on the day. I went to my regular hairdresser back at Easter to get ideas and try out some styles, and all she wanted to do was to do the ringlet-thing.

My hair is naturally straight. It doesn't hold curls, believe me, I've tried. I said this to her, and she said all about how to not wash it the day before, etc, etc..... I have tried all of this!!

But mainly: I just don't have curly hair. Curly hair isn't ME. I've never had curly hair, why should I for this day?? What's the obsession that everyone needs to have their long hair in these ringlet things?

So I went to a second hairdresser, and she started doing the exact same thing!! I Tried to say that I don't really want my hair in ringlets/whatever, but she brushed me off and said "it'll look better this way"... great :( :(

So, after being told by a professional that I'd "look better" with curly hair, and with the fact it still just DOESN'T FEEL LIKE ME!!!!... does anyone have wedding hair ideas for straight hair?

And to clarify, that DON'T involve immediately trying to making that straight hair *not* straight....

It is your day so you should be able to have your hair how you would like it. Have you tried searching for example pictures on the internet that you could maybe show a hairdresser how you would like it? Are you having your hair up or down? Curls will probably hold a style better for the day which is why they have probably gone down that route but it is a shame that the hairdressers so far haven't listened to your hopes.

I guess for a lot of brides it's seen as just pretty, relaxed and attractive but it's not for everyone. My hair is naturally cirly and I straighten it to within an inch of it's life all the time so had it curly on my wedding day. However, my sister has dead straight hair and it's thick and heavy too so she is the same as you, a curl doesn't hold at all. When she got married and when she was my MOH she had an up do. Very chic, sophisticated and classy. Maybe try a classic chignon? Or Audrey Hepburn style french roll? Think Breakfast at T1ff@ny5. Gorgeous with tiara. My BMs all had the Audrey Hepburn style and it looked amazing!

Thanks for your ideas :) I was going to have it down (as I hate my neck lol) but if you search any styles that are down, they're always these ringlet things. ARGH. I think I will just have to look a bit harder and see what I can find.

When I married my ex, I had my hair in a half up half down thing. I just had a small bit pinned up (I admit this had a few curls) but left the rest loose and fairly straight (no-one really had GHD's back then). I did have a veil and tiara that time too and this style worked with that.

Depending on what you're having headwear wise something like that might work? Even something as simple as a half up pony like this??

There are surely a lot of styles you can have that don't include curls. Any good hairdresser/stylist should be able to listen to what you want and make suggestions based on that. I think it's just rude to presume you would want curls!
