Hi all just had a thought about the wedding gifts people will want to give but finding it a bit hard.

We have been together 10 years already and lived together for 9 of those. We have a house and kids so don't really need the normal wedding gifts .

The only thing we are struggling with is paying for the wedding.

We will NOT be having a honeymoon.

So what do we ask for??????????????????????

I wasn't sure if that was a bit wrong asking for money.
just thought about the love to shop vouchers as this can be used in different places.

They are good but u won't get given any change ... Like if u spend £14 and give a £20 voucher they won't give u £6 change so sometimes u lose out or they sometimes give u the change on one of their gift cards but means u can't then spend that anywhere else ...

We're putting something like we ask u to spend the day with us so presents aren't needed but if u wish to contribute something to celebrate our marriage a gift of cash would go a long way x

Didn't know that about them vouchers.
That's a good way of putting it and I assume that will be written on the invitation instead of a gift list.

I think a lot of people prefer to give/receive a bit of cash these days as most of us tend to already have the house and the stuff to fill it. one of the boys cousins who is getting married did one of those poems about not having presents but their presence and if you really want to money will do. Obviously it was more eloquently put than how Ive just put it lol

I prefer it really as it takes the pressure off, bang 20 quid in a card and we're sorted lol

We're leaving the whole gift/money thing and will tell people we want money if they ask.. H2B thinks asking before you're asked makes people feel obliged to buy something regardless of whether they were going to or not... We have instructed my mum and his dad to tell our aunties and uncles money as well if they ask them.. At the moment we won't be able to afford a honeymoon so money would be great ! xxx
