Ok so me and h2b have changed the date of our wedding 3 or 4 times cancelled our venue and looked at cheaper options and we're still arguing over money etc I've had enough now just want us to get married so was thinking of maybe just getting married abroad or somewhere just me and h2b and having the big day we want when we can afford it in a few years have a blessing maybe what's everyones opinions in this I'm not 100% loving this idea but we have a little boy together and I feel insecure not being married and would like us to all have same surname etc especially for when my son starts school! Other thing is would a blessing be the same as a wedding would people get as excited? I don't no what to do HELP!

I think that if you really want to be married, and really cannot afford the big wedding, then yes go ahead and have just a small ceremony with the 2 of you, or a couple of friends as witnesses, then do something special later on, I know that the most important thing to me is being married, and if we could not afford it, i would do anything just to have the ceremony and to be married to the man I love and want to spend the rest of my life with :) x

We are getting married aboard well Guernsey and many of my H2B family just cant afford the flight or boat over so we are having a blessing up north in Novemeber. Every one who couldnt come plus more are coming to the blessing they seem genuinely really excited about being asked to come to the blessing!!

I would do what ever suits the two of you within your budget. Good Luckxx

we were supposed to get married December this year, then we put it back to June next year so we could *do it properly*. Now we are getting married in 6 weeks (long story) and inviting a lot less people and going to the pub afterwards for a meal (people are buying their own). At the end of the day however you do your day, you're still married and thats what counts

Italy does sound nice ... not sure about the costs ... also you need to check out the local laws, some countries have laws about how long you have to be in country before you can get married. Maybe it would be easier to get married in a reg office in the UK and then go straight off on your honeymoon?

We're getting married in a registry office here and no one will know when- it will be just me and him and 2 witnesses - it will be jeans, no flowers, no pics, no rings etc because we're having a blessing in France with all our friends and family as we can't legally marry there. To us the blessing will be the wedding and everyone will not know any different : )

a blessing sounds wonderful but think about this... when you are married already will you keep putting the blessing off because of things like house etc or will you manage to find the time. I just worry that some people do things like this and hope to get round to having the big day of their dreams but miss out as they simply dont get round to doing it. Therefore, I suggest you make it clear that the blessing will go ahead and start budgeting for it and making sure that time will allow it. I just dont want to see you miss out. Some people decide on a blessing but then dont see the point as they are already married and have other committments. Just advice though x

cant wait to be Mrs Evans less than 3 weeks woooo

Awwh Hun, whatever suits you best. Remember, you're getting married because you love each other, not for anyone else. If that's what you both want then go for it. Half of my family is Spanish, so a lot of them can't come to the wedding, so we're having a blessing over there a week later. I wish you all the best. :) x

Bless! I have to agree with Suzky. My friend got married quickly with the intention of having a blessing 5 years later. 8 years later and they are happily married and with buying a new home etc they have no intention of a blessing. In fact they have not mentionned it again since the wedding! Their day was theirs and I just dont think they feel the need now to celebrate it again.
    So, options:
Married abroad and party on return
Married abroad and blessing in future but factor it into your monthly budgeting
Married in UK but scale wedding down so you can do it as soon as you are happy with those most important in your life
Postpone wedding to save up for the big day you want.
Like us all i suppose it comes down to what is most important, just being married, having friends and family there and the money to balance it all out. I hope you can work it out though! xxx
