I'm getting married in July 2011 and can't decide on what favours to have for my guests.
We are looking to find some favours which are unusal and involve either helping the environment in some way or helping a charity. We are really open to all suggestions as we haven't decided fully on what we want to do. Also how much does everyone pay roughly for their favours? How much per person or table is everyone spending on these?
We'd really appreciate your help!

You can get some place cards that you plant and they turn into trees or flowers etc.

There are loads of things for Environment and charities etc you can do.
Have you googled?
Perhaps you can sponsor an animal per table and have the info packs for each animal on each table.
Or you could just name the Charity and say this table "table name" has donated ££ to this charity. and that way you just donate what you are comfortable with.
say you donate £20-30 per table to each charity. Table one could be for Cancer reseach Table 2 for Childrens hospital etc etc

how about the happy couple making a donation to your fav charity (say £3.00 Per guest or whatever your favour budget is). then leave a small note for each guest thanking for thier attendance and what you have decided to do. i am sure they will be rather pleased at your consideration and contribution.
IMO i sometimes feel gift favours are a waste of time and money as not everyone appreciates/wants what you give and i cant really think of a favour i have from a wedding. a wedding i attended 2 years ago the favours were 2 ferrero rocher per person, and most people on our table gave them to our daughter, as meal was delayed and she was starving!!!!

You can get cancer research uk favours where the guest gets a pin badge and the card says 'a donation has been made on your behalf to cancer research uk'. That any good? xxx

i have got world cancer research pins, different colour for each cancer on it and it explains it on the back and u always get cards 4 the table to explain them and can put luve doens name sont hem! they £1.50 each and are luvley!!

We were going to have a little bag with a few chocolates and mints etc in them with a tag on the outside saying 'thanks for sharing our special day' and then our names and the date but now I am making lottery ticket holders with similar thing written in the inside and a gerbera flower pic on the outside and then the week of the wedding im going to buy 60 individual lottery tickets. hoping someone will win big and then donate some to us as a thank you! lol. only joking.
i do like the charity idea tho and think if we didnt do this we would donate something to a cancer charity as we both lost our grandmas to cancer last year.
i think in the end the bags with stuff in were just a bit too much faf and people will just leave them, atleast with the lottery ticket they have a chance of winning and then when its the right time we can have the results announced to everyone. x

i like the idea of having to plant something after the wedding. You could give each guest a tiny tree to plant to remember the day and you could have them in cute pots at each place setting with their name around it x
