My photographer does these and when i asked what they were she said ppl who are getting divorsed usually get them. But she does get some who want to get some pics in their wedding dress in a more relaxed setting (the one she showed me was in a field on a hay bale and looked stunning). Think she said the lady who was in the photo of that one gave it to her husband on their first wedding anniversery, which i thought was a lovely idea to remind him of their wedding.

I think we may go to fountains abbey in Ripon afterwards and have our photo taken outside that lovely church in the middle of the deer woods its beautiful , our venue has no outside space so it will be nice to have some.

They are quite fun but not sure would want to do them myself. We were considering getting married in Brighton but not anymore and part of me still hankers after those photos on the pier so I might pack my dress up and go - not quite the same if not on the day though!

It does seem like a slightly obscure thing to do and my first thought is hell no, but it's not like I'm planning on selling it, or wearing it again and mine is going to be a dark colour so stains wouldn't show up, hmmm

I know - I lived in Brighton for years! It was a difficult choice but a lot of people would have had to travel a long way and accommodation in the height of summer is very expensive and we did not want guests to have to fork out hundreds and hundreds to be able to come along. Also the room for the ceremony was a little bit too small for us. It was a close call though!

you can have bridal photography shoots, where you take your dress, veil, tiara etc, have make up done, hair etc and buy a mock up bouquet and have photos taken in your dress you just can't do on the day.

Really not sure about trashing dress though, I want to keep mine. I don't think if I even still had my first wedding dress I could bear to do it.

i think the word "trash" the dress puts ppl off- i googled this a whila ago and personally its somerthing id think about doing, but not straight after my wedding- i really like the thought of having my dress on again and having pics of me and h2b where i can certainly relax without thinking "omg- im going to wreck my dress". some pictures look lovely. After all its only going to sit up in the loft forever lol

It's my understanding that you don't actually HAVE to RUIN the dress, not if you don't want to. It can just be a different style of shoot, less formal, more fun etc. And stains will come out, if you want to keep the dress that badly... Not bodice ripping, unless desired.

Saw the photographer on whose website I first came across this at a wedding fair on Sunday and she said that when they did the shoot at the beach the dress does not get ruined. She had the dress there that had been used in the shoot and as it was all just sand it had been properly cleaned and had come out! But I don't know that it was the same dress.....!!! It did look fun but I'll keep mine, thanks!

I'm doing more of a CHERISH the dress shoot rather then a trash the dress shoot!
Ive already talked to my photographer about it and we have four locations in mind for it............on the beach, in a wood, in a poppy field and in a castle ruins............PERFECT and I can't wait ;-)
brillant excuse to get to wear your dress again and get some fab pictures!!!!

Ive seen a trash the dress shoot where her and her little girl were painting a finger picture and eating cake BOTH of which she ended up wearing hehehehe

This is not so unusual on certain wedding blogs - I find them funny and people who do this don't do the big traditional wedding anyway and therefore are not wearing silly expensive dresses anyway.

I wouldn't do it because I love clothes too much too destroy them (and my dress only cost £30).

'rock the dress' is a milder version of this, meaning your dress shouldn't get a dirty as trash the dress. In trash the dress photo's there's almost no limit so going into the sea, mud baths, ponds etc are a few places I've seen. Rock the frock is more like a bluebell woods, in a castle ruins, etc. It basically gives you more chance to concentrate on getting some stunning shots of you all dressed up, as often you are time limited on the day and are busy with your wedding and guests to devote to much to getting lots of images of you and you husband.
It might be worth looking round photographers and seeing what they can do. If you let them know how dirty/or not you want your dress to get, then they can work around you.

I think I'd be totally up for this. I'm not the sort who'd try and sell my dress to get something back on it. And I don't see the point in to keeping it. What am I going to do with it? Look at it every now and then? I have wedding pictures for that! Chances are too that my possible future daughter is going to be like "omg mum no. I'm not wearing that it's soooo 100 years ago." Or something! Haha!

To be able to do something really crazy and fun with it and then just throw it out seems much more appealing to me! I'm definitely going to ask my photographer about it!

True - and realistically, I doubt a month or so after the wedding I'll never be able to fit into the dress again (it's a zip up) so maybe I'll consider having this as a treat after the wedding!

I already have mine booked and I will be getting wet if things go according to plan, my MOH is a very talented photographer and she has asked if she can shoot it after I made a comment about wanting to do a forest shoot! We may also be using the beach to get some beach shots of me and the dress, I have two so don't mind ruining one of them, one I can have fun in and the other one to keep forever.

i think it a silly name for a shoot really iv heard it called cherish the dress as well as rock the dress but anyway i thnk it just a shoot where you can get the pics you wouldnt want to get on the day but you really want like for me i want pics on the beach but cos it near the rockpools it would maybe spoil a little bit the end of my dress and get it dirty so i would go for this as i wouldnt want to do those shots on the actual day and then go party afterwards lol x

I think it's called different things depending on what you want to do.

Trash the dress is generally about doing something totally mental, something you wouldn't usually ever do in a white, expensive gown. Horse riding, mud fighting, quad biking etc. Think this one is usually for brides who have a really extreme and MESSY hobby and want to show that side of their personality while getting some real wear out of the dress! I know there are also divorcing ladies who might like to ruin their dress but generally involves taking scissors or fire to it lol. Trash the dress isn't necessarily wanting to completely destroy your dress and all it stands for... Which is obviously why a lady who is getting divorced might want her dress to meet an unfortunate end! I want to trash my dress as in get it dirty and wet and if it gets slightly damaged I won't mind too much...I am not taking it out to purposefully make it look more like Cinderella before the fairy godmother arrived, just want a chance to wear my dress again and hopefully get some nice photos from the day too!

Cherish the dress or rock the frock is then more about getting those shots that won't necessarily ruin your dress but again not something you would usually do in a wedding dress. This can be in a field, or playing with the kids, rocking your dress and some wild accessories or just having a bit of a fashion shoot with your dress on.
