Hi girlies, how are we all doing?? Im a little (ok! understatement of the year) excited off to try some wedding dresses on today already been to one bridal shop and found a lovely dress but a bit over budget, so im hoping i can find one in the shop ive got an appointment with today that i love just as much if not more for a lot less. My question to you is how many bridal shops did you visit or how long did it take for you to find/pick "the one"
CommentAuthorSpud
I only visited one and i wasnt even lookin to buy, just wanted to look at different styles to see what i liked. Just happened to fall in love with one straight away

Firstly hello date twin! Secondly im not sure on the usual price but im getting mine made by a dress maker in the UK who ive heard rave reviews for and she does them a hole lot cheaper. The link is on my wall its for someone called LillyAsh so you should find it lol... xx

I went to nearly 10 stops but I'm indecisive :-p
Now Mrs Cobb!!!!!! :-D
CommentAuthorexcited.com
wow i have a date twin.......wicked lol. see i dont know if i could have one made as i would need to try it on. i do usually know what i want but the wedding dress is looking like a harder task than i originally thought, as i was set on a deep red dress but have recently changed mind to ivory........must say i love this site very informative thanks ladys x x x
CommentAuthorMrs Steer
i would say ivory over white any day only cos it makes life 10 times easier to accessorise i chose a white dress it took me 6 months to find white shoes that had a low heel and where not going to be dyed as they come out off white. xx All the best with shopping, the price tag you mentioned isnt bad i fortunately fell in love for one just under £700 xx

like Spud, I wasn't even planning on buying a dress let alone in the first shop I went into - but a mixture of a gorgeous dress and my mum offering to pay for it did it for me!
CommentAuthorKimi
One shop stood out as the shopkeeper was a doll (some others were horrible and downright snobby) and she's done as much as she can to help us even as far as to try and get kilts in (she couldn't but at least she tried - and we've found kilt hire elsewhere for cheaper anyway) but I still go in a lot and chat to her.
I think I'll be heading back at the end of the month with my sis though. :)
The days are flying by, can't wait :)

I wasn't going to buy one so early on and went to try dresses on to see what style I liked, I ended up buying one because I fell in love with it and still very happy with my decision too! Going to go back again just to try it on, the lady in the shop was lovely and said I coluld come back and try it on whenever! xx

I went to loads of shops but that's because I kept looking for "the one". If you've found it you'll know cos nothing else'll compare. As for the price see if you can get an ex. sample or end of line one in the sale - that particular bridal shop might not have it but if you search on google you might find it cheaper elsewhere. Different shops across the country vary in price I ended up getting mine from Harrogate and I live in Bucks but it was in a 50% off sale so it was well worth it! xx

I only went to 2 shops..... but actually brought the frist dress i tried on in the first shop but brought it in the second one.... The dress i tried on was in ivory and the staff wernt particually nice... so i searched the net and found what i thought was the one... located on the net which shop had it and went to see it.... OMG the area the shop was in was sooo run down and the shop itself wasnt the nicest but the staff made me feel so speacial. tried my dress on and loved it... they pulled load more dresses out and for me to try and they had the first dress i tried on in white... put it on and didnt want to take it off!!!
I think the staff in the shop really help with your decision which makes the dress perfect for you xx

Don't forget that if you find a birdal shop you like that is local 9 times out of 10 they can order the dress in for you which will make it easier for you to attend fittings. Most bridal shops are about the same price unless you find it in the sale etc.
CommentAuthormrs pinkalice
i visited 4 shops, tried on 15 dresses in total. found my dress in the third shop but still looked at one more shop just to make doubly sure i had found the one (im pretty indecisive, especially with such an expensive decision!) my only advice would be make sure you try on a few styles that you wouldnt normally go for, as my dress is nothing like i what i thought i wanted x

I know what you mean. I want to talk all the time about the wedding but there is only so much other people can take so I'm addicted to coming on here. The H2B takes the mickey out of me for spending so much time on here but I can't help it. I'm so excited I've got to talk to someone and you guys never get sick of talking weddings :)

I have ballooned up to 17 stone Although I've just lost a stone. I've fallen in love with a benjamin roberts dress 951 as it still gives me that hour glass shape and makes my fat look like its the dress not me ;P
They also don't charge extra for being a plus size like many other companies do which I find outragous. I'm just glad that I have found a dress that I look good in now so there is no pressure for me to lose weight (although I want to do it for health reasons). I just wish more shops would buy in bigger sample dresses.
CommentAuthorexcited.com
the pic is up and jo luckily for me i made sure i went to bridal shops that did stock plus sizes so was very lucky and surprised i still had a waist i was a very active person a good few years back ex army so i had to be and i love sports but work and motherhood has made it very difficult and if i was to be completely honest i havent helped matters nor has the indian takeaway or h2b we are both chicken tikka masala fans (we are even having it for our wedding breakfast lol) but i am determined to get back to the gym so hopefully will look much better in dress on the big day x
