HELP. how soon should i start looking for/ trying on dresses before the big day, When i got married the first time round i just went to start looking two years before my wedding, I found the perfect dress and ordered and brought it, but im afraid im one of these people who just has to look at a cocolate bar or a bag or crisps and puts on half a stone, resulting in having to have my dress altered three times. Although i still have 18 months to go i don't want to make the same mistake again. Im not sure of the sort of dress i would like, i had a big fancy one before so i might go for a plainish one this thime, but i did say i wanted a plain one before, but when i saw it i loved it, so its gonna be a case of look, try on and see how you feel in it and if you like it. Im desperatly trying to lose weight but getting no where. So could you all please help and give me advice on when i should start looking and trying on please. Thanx.

The shop I got mine from said as long as it was ordered 8 months before the wedding to come in 3 months before ready for alterations, you're fine. So, I'd probably start looking around 12 months before if unsure but if you have an idea what you want then look around 10 months before to give yourself plenty of time - then order it in your current size so if you lose before the big day they can take it in, if you don't then you're still ok! New styles and shapes come out all the time so personally I wouldn't want to start looking too far ahead - I've seen plenty of threads from B2B's who've bought their dresses 2 years in advance but personally that wouldn't work with me!
