Okay, I'm feeling like a total sore thumb but I've budgeted about £2500 for my dress! My grandma has offered to pay for it (with the understanding that it would be around £2500) and I'm having a four piece dress which I plan to wear again to parties and balls: tartan underwear corset (to match G's kilt), pale gold silk off-the-shoulder bodice, full length box-pleated skirt with train and 1950s circle skirt with red petticoats.
my budget was £1000, but my dress was £780 i think as got some knocked off but cant remember how much of the top of my head lol x
cant wait to renew my vows, love my hubby sssssooooo much xx
CommentAuthorGregorysGirl
I didn't want to pay more than £300 but saw an Ian Stuart dress whilst helping a friend choose hers (she made me try it on), and I fell in love with it. It would have cost about £2000 new but has been worn once and so cost me £600. It could cost around £100 more for alterations but trying to keep that down by losing some weight over the next month or two, having got long though, so must be very good, have even given up drinking!!! :) x

Well not going to be showing H2B how much everyone else paid for their dresses that for sure!!. My dress and little jacket are going to be £3800 and that is without alterations, i went £800 over budget as i added the Jacket and having Suzanne Neville do the beading on the top of the dress rather than the shop so that it matches perfectly with the other "tweaks" i requested, but i won't lie i don't feel guilty i know i have gotten exactly what i wanted. Which i am very lucky my parents are picking up half of the dress as that is what my sister got to, from the Suzanne Neville too although hers was only £2200.
CommentAuthorSpecialSundae
Claire - I'm so glad that I'm not the only one splashing out. Which Suzanne Neville dress have you gone from?
CommentAuthorKinkyemo
the one i want is £97 from the bay of e put a pic on my profile (the red one)
CommentAuthorclaireandpete
I was originally going for Aster but when i met Suzanne in January (she comes up to Aberdeen once a year for 2 days ) but she said i know you love it but Besotted is an updated version of Aster and i think it will work better for the changes you want to make plus you might like the adjustments as i have made my corsets even better. She is Amazing, and will do whatever you want, and was so helpful and enthusiastic when we discussed colour as I'm not going white/ivory, they are still sourcing my material but hopefully will get my swatch soon.
CommentAuthorclaireandpete
Kinkyemo, LOVE your dresses ! thats the kind of things i was looking at. £97 bargain!

I couldnt justify spending over £200 on a dress yeah ok its my wedding day but to only wear a dress once and then get putsomewhere safe i would see it as wasted money and u have seen how pretty my dress is it doesnt look cheap at all x

I was planning on finding one I liked and then buying a similar one cheaper from the internet, so I originally budgeted £350, but then I fell in love with a dress and it was one I'd never seen anything similar to!! Thankfully it was in the sale as they were moving premises and I ended up getting a deal with the jewellery, veil and tiara all thrown in so I paid £700 for the lot!! Worth every penny coz I still have never seen another dress like it!!!
CommentAuthorRachie :D
My outfit comes to about £1400 including dress, shoes, handbag, tiara, veil and pants and I dont feel guilty at all - im learning its not the cost its how you feel and I have tried on alot of dresses at least 30! Some were £300/£400 and some were £3000 and none made me feel as beautiful as this one did and thats why I've chosen it - Dad is very kindly giving me the money I hadnt budgeted towards it

my h2b told me i go without all the time so i have to get the dress i love even if its so expensive, im not to pick a different one because its cheaper!! he knows me too well lol. i just cant justify spending a huge amount on a dress tho. i hope i dont spend over £500, although the 2 dresses i have fell in love with are an alfred angelo and maggie so i think i may need to up my budget!!
CommentAuthormym72
My original budget was £300 - but the dress I chose was £500, but includes all alterations so not too bad. My tiara was from ebay and was about £15, and shoes are Moda in Pelle and were in the sale for £39 (and are something I can wear again) so got a good deal really (especially as dress is a bit different to most I tried in the shops).
CommentAuthorlala "mod" bunni
i have 2 dresses ......one was down from £1500 and i got it for £230 , the other was £30 and is being changed from a full length dress to a knee length one (the skirt is being made fuller) with bodice changed to a strapless one for free as a wedding present
That sounds good lalabunni. I'm looking round for another one for our evening reception as that's when we get back from honeymoon - and my dress is a bit 'big' for the evening venue and party (and a good excuse to buy another dress lol).
CommentAuthorYourFirstDanceBride
Mine cost £299 down from £799 at a sample sale - it had never even been tried on, the shop were having a clear out! It will cost me about £100 to have it taken up as I am a shorty, but it won't cost any extra for alterations as I have managed to lose the weight so it fits again!

I went dress shopping for my sisters wedding last year and we went to this amazing bridal basement, the dresses were priced from £199 - £499 and were just as beautiful as in an expensive boutique! = ) I'm definitely going to pop into one of them when I start looking for my perfect dress! Although I do like the idea of the fancy wedding dress shop with the podium and glasses of champagne! = D hee hee! xxx
CommentAuthorNannyDani
My Budget is £500 - £800, yet the dress I have fallen for is £2090!!!!!! =( *tear*
How are you all getting these dresses reduced? I need help - Im desperate for this dress!!
Anyone have any ideas or tips? I cant justify spending that much on it - even if I can get together the money, I would hav to spend it on other things.... Its get it cheap, have a replica made or not have it all.... and I dont want to go with the latter!!
Any sugestions??

Ooooh bet your excited Ataraxia ! I absolutely loved trying on the dresses !
I do have some advice though.......be open minded when you try on dresses, they definitely look different on the hanger......I ended up going for something completely different to what i thought I wanted......at 3 times my original budget.....but hey ho LOL !
