I recently went to a wedding where the bride got married in a gorgeous wedding dress, but then after the speeches and the meal at the reception, she slunk off to get changed into an evening dress. It looked a little like her wedding dress, but it was more like a cocktail dress.

Is anyone else thinking of doing this? I can see her point since it would have been difficult to do much of the happy delirious 'I'm married to the man of my dreams' dancing she was doing. Lol.

Hmm I understand the 'why', just not sure if I could part with my dress so soon when I know it's the only time I'll wear it. I think what I'll do in the end is have a backup dress stashed away and play it by ear.

I can see why some people do but I know I won't be. The money that my dress is costing I could not justify going out and buying another dress (which would have to be as spectacular as your dress so you still stand out) so you are paying out more money for something that basically you don't need to do and I think it would be nice for all the evening guest to see you in your dress aswell and some people don't come until after 8 by which point whats the point in changing for 2/3 hours - I have waited long enough to wear it so it will be painted on me lol it's not coming off at all xx

i know some people do change their dresses, as they feel more comfortable in a smaller lighter dress in the evening, but i couldnt do it all that money for one dress, i will be wearing it for as long as i can, think H2B will have to crow bar me out of it when we go to bed, as love my dress sssssoooo much xx

I don't do dresses either hails, am definitely a jeans girl :0)
Last time I got married I wore a trouser suit. This time around though I am wearing a dress :0) Not a long or white dress though, it's a vintage lace style with a nice low cut V neck line and the dress itself sits just on my knee in length. I will be wearing it with white linen trousers and will wear it all day .... it's something I will wear again too so will get my monies worth out of it!

Jesus the amount of planning and stress that's gone into this dress I certainly won't changing. My cousin who made the dress would probably be upset bearing in mind the amount of time she's spent making it. I can see the point though of changing especially if you get married early in the day and your dress is massive.

my opinion is, after spending hundrers of pounds on a wedding dress and that i will love I would want to wear it for as long as possible! I can see why some people would have 2 but i also think its nice for the evening guests to see the dress xx
