    Hello All

Our wedding is set for 11am as that was the only available time with the registrar. I need some suggestions of how to set out the day and fill the gaps. I.E, what time should you serve dinner, should be we offer canapés, what time should we start the evening reception etc?

    Thanks all

    Hi,

I'm getting married at 1pm, ceremony should last about 30 mins. Then we will be having a canape reception, we will be sitting down to eat at 2:50 with the meal starting at 3. Speech will start about 5:30, and the evening reception will follow this. We are getting married and having our reception at the same place.

Have you spoken to your venue? Both my venue and my caterer have put together timeplans for the day for me, which have been really useful, I've just gone off their advice, otherwise I wouldn't really have a clue.

Im having the same dilema. My photographer has ask for a list of times from the bride getting ready to the 1st dance. I have no idea how long it will take for me to get ready or how long anything will take. I was thinking ... getting married at 2 then 2.30 to 4.30 photos and drinks then get everyone settled in their seat for 5pm when the food is served. Would 2 hours be enough for the photo's????

reading all these im a bit worried about my timeline im thinkin its going to be too much of a push the problem is that our ceremony, meal, reception are all in one room so it keeps needing to be reset but now im thinking im not giving enough time for the photos the meal or the speeches though h2b and my dad arent ones for public speaking and have said it will be short and sweet xxxx

Thanks for all the replies :)

We are having a civil service, so that only takes us to 11:30. The wedding and reception all at the same place, so there is no travelling to be done.

1100-11:30 wedding, 11:30-13:00 photos, 13:00-13:15 seat for dinner, 13:15-15:15 dinner and speeches, but then we have hours between the dinner ending and the evening reception - what to do in this time gap?

I would maybe allow a little more time for dinner and speeches. Suppose it depends on how many courses you are having and how many people are making speeches. Our schedule is something like this:

7:00am Get up and get a lovely bubble bath at the hotel (i am getting married there too), stick some music on and lounge in my dressing gown

    8:30 Hair and makeup

    10:00am Bridal prep photos

10:00am stress out a bit, possibly run away...

    12:00 get married

    12:30 Have photos

    14:30 - 15:00 have 5 course meal and speeches

18:00 relax with my guests, possibly nip up to my room to check my face hasn't fallen off.

19:00 greet evening guests, have first dance, and enjoy myself. Possibly get a little tipsy.

    Hope this helps
    xxxxx

Our time schedule is quite relaxed so no rushing about, but hopefully no-one will get bored in the gaps.

Ceremony starts at 2pm til say 2.30pm, photo's say 2.45pm, then we are having a drinks reception at 3.30pm til 4.00pm.

4pm Wedding breakfast (3 course sit down), speeches etc, so probs go on until 6.00pm ish. Then there will be a slight lull where people can relax and get a breath of fresh air until the reception guests start arriving at 7pm, where the disco should be starting at the same time.

I think at 7.30pm ish we do our receiving line, cut the cake and have our first dance. The buffet is set to come out at 9pm then the evening is set to party away!

We're getting married at 2pm shouldn't take too long as it's only civil with a candle lighting ceremony so say until about 2.30 drinks and canapes from then until about 4. Our photographs will be from 2.30 until 4.15 then into recetion room for eating at 4.30 As it's all in one place it'll all be nice and relaxed and no rushing around (I'll have probably done enough rushing around in the morning lol) Not even thought about timing prior to me leaving my house yet!

I think I am going to take a sleeping pill to get me through the night. I am staying iin a room with two of my bridesmaids at the hotel the night before so they will just have to knock me out or something , at the back of the head though...

I have asked photographer to be with me at the hotel at 12:30 to take preparation shots. Wedding is at 2pm. All my family will be over from ireland and guernsey so we will be having breakfast together in the hotel, then up to my room to put my hair up and soak in the bath and relax for the last bit of me time i will have.
Then mil2b will bring the bridemaids to the hotel, and we will begin getting ready, with photographer there to take shots like i requested.
Leave on the trike in time to get to the ceremony. Get married at 2, then on to reception. Photos will be taken on route to reception in the woods (weather allowing) or on the green outside the reception venue. (more likely both)
Inside the reception an informal buffet and tables will be laid out. I think possibly speeches before the buffet is opened, and the cutting of the cake.......
    Eat and mingle.....
At 6 oclock the bar opens (until then soft drinks would have been provided with the buffet an mead for our toasts)
The chocolate fountain also kicks off at 6, when the evening guests have been invited to arrive, so does the dj.
8pm the hogroast will be ready to serve.
1st dance probably at around 6:30...... music shuts off at 11:30.

    Thats my rough idea anyway.
