Hi, Im pretty sure ive had a good moan about this before but Ive tried g00g1eing "wedding day makeup glasses wearers" etc and the only photos I can find are uber professional ones. Realistically its not what im looking for.

Has anybody worn glasses on their big day? Do you have any photos for me to look at? How did you feel wearing your glasses on your big day?

I'm not sure it why wearing glasses would make a difference if I am honest. I wear glasses and have done since I was 16. They have become a part of who I am and most people I know now only know me with my glasses. It wouldn't be right to not wear them.

Saying that I am hoping to get contact lenses when I get them tested later this year but that's not for the wedding. That's just for me to see if I can have them and whether they work for me. I went very quickly from having minimal trouble with my eyes to wearing varifocals at 16 and having my eyes tested and new glasses every 3 months so now I'm in a position to afford it I would like to try contacts. OH isn't as keen though as he has only ever known me with them.

I agree with Emily, I don't really see how wearing glasses would make any difference to the make up, you will still be able to see it. I wear both glasses and contacts but I have decided to wear contacts on the day for ease and also for the look. as much as I love glasses and have been wearing them since I was 13 I prefer contacts.

I think it should be your own personal preference and don't worry about the make up.

Ive tried doing some makeup trials of my own... All i see is my glasses. I guessni want people to see my eyes.
Not to mention reflections on glasses suring photos etc.
I might be over thinking it but i guess my face furniture feels like a focal point at the moment.

I wear glasses but i'm not wearing them on the day, i can't see long distance so i don't think it will affect me as much on the day. If you need them on the day have you tried contacts? i can't think of anything else sorry x

I see what you mean now.

Is it the style of your glasses? I have to have thick rims on mine and the lenses have to be very deep (2.7mm minimum frim my pupils down to be exact) for my varifocals. They become a feature in themselves.
My mom on the other hand can wear glasses with a light metal rim as her lenses aren't as thick and they aren't so deep.
Her face feels more open than mine does because of the style but if I was to wear hers and vice versa we would look silly as they just don't suit us.

Why not try looking for general makeup wearing glasses rather than specific to weddings. You can then change the colours etc to suit.

Go into b00t5 or somewhere similar and they will show you how to do your makeup so that you can get it how you want. We took mom to an 3st3 l@ud3r counter last year and she loved it. We didn't even have to buy anything. It was completely free xx

I took mine off for the day, I can see clearly enough without mine to get away with it which is lucky.

    Thanks for the tip @Emily

Indreamland- I unfortunately cannot see a thing without mine. My lenses are very thick and I struggle to see about an armslength away. I tried contacts but I found them quite irritating and people looked at me like "why are you not wearing glasses you look odd without them" kind of thing. I didnt want to surprise everyone on my big day revealing my squinty beady eyes and my big round cheeks. hahaha.
I do have quite thick rimmed specks but I need them for the lenses, I think going into b00t5 or D3b3nh@ms is a great idea.... :-) x

    Glad to help!! xx

You could even got he morning of the wedding and get them to do it for you if you wanted. That was what I was planning until someone offered to pay for it for me.

I've seen photos of real brides and bridesmaids wearing their glasses and think they looked lovely, they shouldn't restrict any look you want to create.

I only didn't wear mine because I'm used to going out without them unless I'm driving or at work.

I'm wearing my contacts for the day. In fact I'll wear them all holiday so I can change up the sunnies I wear!
If you really don't get on with lenses then you can get an anti-reflective coating put on your glasses just in case for the flash.
Otherwise I wouldn't worry about your glasses, it sounds and looks like they are funky so they should be a great statement!

Just to add, your photographer should be able to help prevent any glare from your glasses either by putting you in the right light or being an editing wiz later. X

I'm sure your make up artist will have experience with this and will know what to use and what will work best.

I wear glasses too but not all the time. I can't see well far away. I worried about what to do for the wedding as I can't wear contacts as I have damage to my left eye. I didn't wear my glasses as I don't wear them all the time anyway. I could see ok apart from when sat at top table I couldn't see people at the back of the room lol

I wear glasses mainly but I'll be getting some contacts for my wedding day. I think I'll feel more comfortable doing it that way

Im not having a makeup artists Danielle Im doing ti myself. (tight budget)
I found a tutorial online for wedding makeup ideas for glasses wearers and trying it out I still just see my frames.

I was going to wear contacts Anika, but I touch my face and rub my eyes too much. I genuinely dont think I could hack them all day not to mention I have tiny squinty eyes.
Kirsty thanks for your advice, I just spoke to my photographer she said I might get a little glare but she can edit it out. Happy times :-)

Can I suggest to you all getting glasses to not get the lenses that turn into sunglasses when you're outside! They take a while to go back to clear when you go from outside to indoors.

my best friend wore glasses on her wedding day, we just did her eye make up a little bolder.

My husband prefers me without glasses so I managed to get a contact lense trial and wore contact lenses for most the day, until about 10pm.

I dont see why it makes such a huge difference, people have said it looks better in photos without them but to me i have worn them pretty much my whole life, they are part of who i am and my other half wears them too. We are going to both wear them on our wedding day :) got to be you!

If youre worried about photos, get an anti reflective coating and that will help to reduce reflections from the lenses. Most lenses that are thinned down come with the coating anyway.

I wear a mixture of contacts and glasses. I'm going to wear my contacts on the day but if I'm going on a night out I wear my contacts so that's quite normal for me. Just do what feels right for you and I think habe quite heavy eye make up will make it stand out more. I wear fake eyelashes, could this be something you would consider? I feel like they make my eyes more open. Xx
