Do any of your friends have nice cars? I know a few people that have done that.

Can't help you with a free car, but have you looked at hiring an executive car from a taxi firm. Generally loads cheaper than wedding car companies.

Are you staying in one venue for everything? If so do you really need a car?

My best friend got married last year and due to everything being in one place no one other then bridesmaids and her dad seen the car due to everyone having to be sat down before she arrived. Due to this I am not having one.

Just a suggestion.. I understand however this does not help if you are changing venues...

Tart up a more quirky car owned by family/friends or even as mentioned, ask for a premium taxi!

It doesn't have to be a fancy car ... my transport was a Golf! My MOH's husband drove us to the venue in their bog standard VW Golf ... we got some ribbon and decorated it - it was fab :-) Our ceremony & reception were all in the same place so I saw no point in spending £200 on a car to do a total of 6 miles,

How about hiring a car without cheauffer if someone you know could drive it for you,you could just get the car ribbon if you wanted to decorate it and it would be a fraction of the cost :) My brother (also H2b's best man) is hiring the car (and driving the car) for him an h2b and it has worked out much cheaper than booking a cheuaffer driven car and he then has transport to get us home the following day too (staying over night) :)xx

My h2b just see me reading this post, and said he would go round the car dealerships "looking" to buy a new car and trying to get a weekend test drive as most car brands offer this service to see how the car fits in with your lifestyle and all sales persons have targets to meet. My h2b does this when he wants to take a different motorbike out from his own. He said the more they believe you want to buy it the easier it is to get it for the weekend. He also said if you manage to get a test drive in a vw or audi and turn up to a bentley garage in this car you will look more convincing. All you need to do this is a driving licence as you will be put on their insurance, and anyone with fully comp insurance who is insured to drive other cars can drive this car legally(he thinks). Who ever does take the car should pay £10 insurance waiver, So even this is not free still lol. If you have someone who is willing to drive you to the reg office see if they will do it for you.
