its stupidly expensive.. what about having a go yourself babe? you dont have to get them looking exactly like you but if you got certain aspects like hair colour, dress style, something fun that links it to you then that would work

I did mine, they look nothing like me or him but they are in the same vein i guess only i added my dog lol. i'll pop pics on my profile

I looked at having ours characterized, but then couldn't justify over £100 for a cake topper, have looked on that good old auction site and found some humorous ones instead for a third of the price, so may go for one of them (bride holding the key while groom in chains hehe or bride stopping groom run away etc etc)

We are having ours 'characterised' .. and yep, they cost alot ..BUT they are going to last forever..so they are something we want to pay out for.

cant agree more..its stupid how much they cost

i was lookin at the ones that the bride is draggin the groom up the alter..or has his ball and chain on groom is sitting down head in hands and bride swinging the key..or the groom is standing on brides dress

but even still its like 25 quid for the one :O x

i used Fimo so they will last forever.. tried doping some out of Sugarpaste but it was just too fragile.
They prob cost about £15- £20 for materials.

You model them then bake them in the oven ( thats the bit you have to be careful with cos leave them just a few minutes too long and the white starts to get brown.

Otherwise, has anyone tried Etsy? ~Its a website where crafters and modellers sell their wares ( stops opening shops etc) lots are based in America but there are always UK suppliers too.

I would offer to do them for you but making things for other people is really scary :S

ill have a look when i go shopping next see if i can find any! does it come in differnent colours? or do you have to add food dye or sumit to change the colour?

no it comes in loads of different colours, but you can mix too and get pretty marbelled effects and things.

Only thing to be careful off is using you white. Make sure your hands are REALLY clean and washg them regularly as your modelling, plus do all your white before any other colours cos the dyes that are in them transfer quickly

I used to love using fimo, when i was little, used to make badges and all sorts.

Not really thought about what we are having asa a cake topper yet. Maybe a castle for us, to follow the theme of the day. xx
