That is a lot but it depends who you are going with. All the big shops like patiserie valerie do charge amounts like that and it is good quality cake but it depends if u wanna pay that for it. A lot of people recommend marks and spencers cakes, u can get three tiers for under £100. bargain!

i would say if you are getting it made that is a great price!

i paid £275 for 3 tiers and each tier a different flavour xx

I think for a wedding cake thats a decent price but slightly off topic do you not think sometimes these people just bump the prices up cos its a wedding cake!? I mean i got a massive 2 teir birthday cake for £60 and it was LUSH! Decorations, sparkles n all sorts of jazz! Pees me off a little. (Sorry about the mini rant!)

Gees i didn't realise how much cakes were. Im quite lucky as one of my bridesmaids nans makes cakes so she is doing mine, which is a 3 tier with 2 fruit and 1 sponge for £80 x

You'd be surprised at how much it costs to make the cake and how much time goes into it. I recently made 140 cupcakes with a 6inch fruit cake, it cost just over £100 in ingredients alone. It took me 2 days to make/decorate the cupcakes and a further 3 days to ice and hand paint the fruit cake, which doesn't include the making of the fruit cake itself. Granted, professionals are much faster and get the ingredients in bulk but there is a lot of time and skill involved in making them perfect

My friend is doing mine as a gift which I designed, its a 4 tier square cake all different flavours but she said If I was a normal customer (im never normal ;-)) she would be charging £350-400 for it so I think it sounds about right hunni

i have been quoted between 300 and 600 for our cake. which is 3 tiers and 2 different flavours

I've just ordered and paid the deposit on mine. 3 tiers; top fruit; middle chocolate; bottom lemon. Very simple decoration of ivory icing with colour scheme matching ribbons around each layer and a brooch detail. It was £285 but with a wedding fayre discount I've got it for £255. I'm chufferood as I was going to have cupcakes to save money then I met this wonderful woman who could meet my budget for 3 tiered.

I am getting my cake from m & s their cakes are great, just read the reviews. You can buy as many tiers as you like in fruit or sponge. You can just order one tier if its a small wedding, it tells you on the website exactly how man portions you get from each size tier. All you need to add is a cake topper from ebay jobs a good en. All brides on a tight budget have a look their great value.

mine was 4 tiers of sponge £175 but i was quoted 450 by a big company look around there are bargains to be had x

We're having 4 tiers with chocolate, victoria sponge, carrot cake and traditional fruit with our own design for £250.. Definately pays to shop around and get loads of quotes as someone else with 3 tiers and a plain design was nearly £400!xx

My cake that i have been looking at is 350 for 3 tiers one lemon one fruit and one sponge. but it does have alot of detail on it looks amazing x

My auntie made mine (2-tier fruit with one of them gluten-free and a spare test cake) for about £100 :)
